Hello everyone! Stormybc, not enough time has passed after treatment and I still find it difficult to understand how many dollars (the more the exchange rate is constantly changing :)) I feel and I still feel the dangers of alcohol - headaches and ear pain , but they are reduced. This was not during the treatment. Sorry, but I would rate my health without the influence of alcohol. As for Harvoni, I don't know anyone personally and through the Internet, because I haven't watched this medicine. Through the Internet I am familiar with the story of a girl with F4-3GEN. She was treated with SOVALDI+RIBA 24 weeks and achieved SVR24. Treatment she tolerated it well and she was lucky to get in luck . Probably you should not be afraid of possible side symptoms treatment when you have a F4. I believe in the power of contemporary drugs and I hope all you get.

Wow. You must feel like a new man. I am standing with Harvoni in hand afraid to start taking 12 weeks as Im terrified of the side effects. I rcvd tainted blood in1981. They said, I'd feel like a million dollars after they gave me blood. 35 years later with 1a cirrhosis F4 and viral 1,700,000 They tell me. Take this medicine you'll feel like a million Dollars. So do I take it. Will I make it? Tell me your best gut feeling and tell me how many people do you know who have taken Harvoni when they have F4 Cirrhosis And what their side effects were. Please. I need to do this. I want to do this. But I can't do this.

Most of my life's problems and liver problems from alcohol.
Hi ell.
I can't help but be a bit concerned about drinking alcohol to the point of being "drunk" so soon after completing treatment. A viral load of UND only says that the hepatitic C virus is not detected in your blood. You still need to consider that your liver has been fighting a war and it needs time to recover. I would suggest trying to abstain from drinking to let your liver finish recovering. If stopping drinking is a problem for you then do whatever it takes to find a solution. I had this problem and found support through Alcoholics Anonymous. I don't know what you have available in Russia but I hope you will look into what is available if you find this to be a problem. You have done your body a big favor completing treatment but it still needs you to take care of it. That's just my opinion but I'm sure your doctor will tell you the same thing. I wish you well and hope you succeed living a long life with a healthy liver. Congratulations on finishing your treatment and keep us updated on your progress toward achieving SVR in 12 more weeks.

Hey El
Congrats on your completing your 12 weeks, I would highly suggest that you totally abstain from drinking alcohol until you have achieved SVR-12 (12 weeks clear of HCV after EOT [end of treatment]) the first four to 12 weeks after EOT your body is adapting to not having the HCV drugs controlling your virus If any is left over and hanging around, which is possible.
Weakening your immune system by drinking may cause your body extra stress and compromise your chances of clearing the virus.
P.S. If you are cirrhotic you should never or rarely drink any kind of alcoholic beverage.

Hi! You've been through a lot and your advice is very valuable to me. I drink not often, but sometimes a problem comes or a holiday and I'm drunk. Most of my life's problems and liver problems from alcohol. And I understand that. But I would not want to completely eliminate alcohol from my life. I need to learn to cope with this appetite and find a healthy way to resolve their moral problems . Can be sports. I remember the days when as a teenager I played sports - I felt happy after training .Thanks for the advice.

Hi ell
I'd drink to that if my liver wasn't shot is one of my favorite sayings
So you question is now that your done with TX and drank will be OK?
We are all told NO alcohol or anything else fun if you in treatment that can interact with the Harvoni or Vera Pack (Your lifesaving drugs) .
I have bad cirrhosis and my liver was destroyed with the combo of Hep C and drinking. You are playing with a loaded gun if you have cirrhosis.
My personal advice is abstain from alcohol for awhile longer clean up your diet get exercise, try to good things for your body let your body heal we still don't know a lot about long term side affects from harvoni. As you pass SVR and want to have a few drinks ( and your not gonna make a career out of drinking ) Please be honest with your doctor about how much you do drink. So keep in mind a lot of us here had Hep C and Drank or used Drugs or BOTH Too bad we kept drinking all those years we may have had better livers today

THANK YOU, TIG for you answer!
I wanted to know whether I could lower the chances for SVR using alcohol immediately after treatment and may I fearlessly for SVR have already consumed alcohol ? After all, if he destroyed the virus in the body, it is destroyed. If not , then no. I'll wait for SVR 12 and hope for the best. Although the reaction of sof+riba+wine = frequent headaches and ear pain . Apparently this affects the blood vessels .

Hello,
The ultimate goal of treatment is to reduce the viral count to an undetectable level at week 12 following the end of treatment. The rate of relapse following that achievement is less than .5% (1/2%) and some schools of thought, claim it is less. The odds of a recurrence is almost nil, but theoretically possible. There are differing opinions, as there are with many medical breakthroughs and this is no different. I have knowledge of people relapsing immediately after treatment, usually within the first 4 weeks, but I personally do not know anyone that has relapsed after achieving SVR. It's for that reason I believe you will find those that are so confident, they use the "C" word (cure)! The risk of reinfection is always there, because SVR does not impart immunity on us. So risky behavior or contact with infected blood can cause a new infection.

The end of my treatment coincided with the celebration of the New Year. I allowed myself a considerable amount of alcohol. Could this affect the outcome ? Do I understand correctly that if the virus at the end of treatment completely destroyed, it has no chance for recovery ? And that we monitor 12 weeks after treatment because there is no test with a sensitivity of 0 international units ?
