Wow, that's great news Mena! If Angelo can walk 5 miles then he must be feeling really good. And I know he is so happy not to be worried about Hep C or HCC. You both have been real warriors getting to this point and certainly deserve this. I'm looking forward to Angelo's continued improvement and I wish you both happiness in the future. Tell Angelo 'hi' and keep up the good work.

Hello everyone, We went to Mt. Sinai on friday for a follow up MRI and blood work.
The MRI showed NO HCC, and that everything was pretty stable.
The blood results are however very puzzling to me.
NO HCC, NO HepC,
Comparing BLood work from 11/11/2015 to 1/22/16
AFP went down from 8 to 6.3
Platelets went down from 64 to 58
ALK PHOS went up from 143 to 205
AST went up from 71 to 111
ALT went up from 56 to 82
Creatinine went up from 0.70 to 0.84
Bilirubin went up from 1.9 to 4.0
INR stayed at 1.2
Last November the MELD score was 11, today is 13.6
I am confused!
Have not discussed these changes with the doctor. Wanted to hear from all of you the know more than the doctors!
THANKS,
MENA
Update:
My daughter spoke to the doctor and he explained that we should NOT be too concerned with the Blood results. He claims that what they are more interested in at this point is how the Patient is feeling and how he looks!
Angelo feels great and looks good! He has a lot of energy, he's able to walk over 5 miles a day.
In November we went to Florida and we drove there. On our way back he actually drove straight through only stopping to eat dinner and gas. I was very concerned and he assured me that if he felt tired we would stop for the night. I know his guardian angel was right there keeping him safe.
The doctor also said that fluctuation in the results is to be expected due to all the changes his body is going through. At this point the MOST important result is HEPC still : Undetected after EOT 5/10/15 and NO HCC!

Hi Mena, I agree with Tig, I don`t know how to interpret those results. I`m sure Angelo`s doctor will be able to shed some light on what`s going on, and in meantime try not to worry.
You must be so relieved that Angelo is finally free from the cancer and from Hep C, he has had a long and difficult fight, you both have. That is so wonderful!
We`ll be very interested to hear what his doctor says, please keep us updated..

Hi Mena,
That's great news on the MRI results! No HCC and still undetected, woot!! Congrats to Angelo on that good news.
The lab results are rather puzzling to me too. I'm afraid I can't offer much help at this point. Several things can be involved and that can be the result of medication, reaction to treatments and care he has been receiving to date, it's all intertwined and anything I might say would simply be a guess and I don't want to do that. They indicate that liver and kidney function need to be further investigated, because the results are elevating. We often see fluctuations during the course of treatment and as I said, this could be as simple as that. The doctor will be your best source of information on this right now. We do know that there is no cancer and no Hep C, so that's a relief. I hope there's a simple explanation once you speak with Angelo's doctor. Please keep us informed.
