Good to see your getting on with life post tx. I think I was right behind you in tx. My 2 year eot will be in May. Keep up with the walking if you can.
Be good to your self.

Hi Julie. Thanks for stopping by. It's great to see how you have recovered so well, so far, from HCV and from a rough ride trying to eliminate it. You certainly had a bunch of obstacles along the way but you stuck with it and I certainly commend you for your determination and stamina. Seeing your success sure gives those still fighting the dragon hope on the days when it's hard to have much. Keep doing what you're doing, enjoy being Hep C free and stop by again when you can.

Hi Julie,
It's nice to see you doing so well after the two years EOT and even better knowing your SVR remains strong! You battled incredibly hard and while the recovery continues, after witnessing your strength, I have little doubt that you will achieve the goal you seek. Your message is very powerful and is a valuable guide to those reading your journey.
I wish you continued success and really enjoy it when our Veteran members come by to share their positive experiences following treatment.

Hi Julie, good to hear from you!
You went through so many difficulties to reach SVR, and I`m so pleased to hear how well you`re doing now. You never gave up the fight, even with so many setbacks during your tx, and your SVR was very well deserved. Your courage and determination during the worst times was really inspirational!
I totally agree that being proactive with our health before, during, and after tx is so important, and can make a huge difference. It`s always difficult to say whether any post tx health issues would have happened anyway or whether they are a direct result of the tx drugs, and in most cases we`ll never know, but the main thing is that you`re keeping a positive outlook and doing all you can to get back into good health. The fact that you are still undetected and that your liver is recovering so well from the onslaught of the virus is wonderful, and must have been such a boost to your morale!
By the way, I`m with you on the bad memory, I just put it down to my age though! Lol
Thanks for stopping by with your update, we`re always pleased to hear from you, and from any of our members who have made it through to the other side!
Take good care of yourself, and all the best of luck... xx

I love reading these updates. Thank you and bless you. Just when I wonder, is it me, my age, etc? Then I learn it is a symptom someone else experienced and I breathe a sigh of relief. Thank you Dustbear.

Its long overdue for an update. Its been just over 2 yrs since my EOT. The 48wk interferon/riba treatment was cut short 3 weeks early due to 2 overlapping problems: myositis (inflammation of the muscles but real words: I lost every muscle in my body) and interstitial lung disease. FYI, I was put on Boceprevir for about 30days but my body rejected it.
Please Note: For anyone reading this and are new to treatment or supporting someone, please take heed. Each person will have different reactions, none or little at all, and from my observation no two are alike.
All blood work levels are now back to normal, the virus is UND (yay) and liver biopsy & fibroscan show my liver has healed from 2.5 to between 1 & 2.
Hair grew back right away, taste buds and appetite returned, light and noise sensitivities took about a year to settle, sleeping is just back to normal after 2 yrs. Moods are okay but still on half a citalopram; I tried to go off but the mood swings came back. I developed blood clots in 2 of my fingertips resulting in permanent damage. This means there is no blood circulation to the fingertips which means they get cold and painful. I have to wear mittens to go into the freezer!
Due to my immune system taking a hit, my herpes #2 surfaced after a 30 year absence and I'm on meds for a year to kick it in the butt. Viruses from the 80s seem to have taken a liking to me.
The only thing I am struggling with is the muscles in my upper legs, hips and groin. Its weird and hard to explain as all my other muscles are normal. Upon reflection, this area was the hardest hit and until about 4 months ago walking was still painful. I got depressed as my weight increased and overdid the exercise thinking Ill either survive or die. Well I had a major setback but recovery is getting better due to the physio Ive been doing. I was in top physical shape going into tx and I dont know if this is related but now I have bone spurs in my neck and bulging discs in my lower back. The doctors say this is normal for someone my age but its hard to believe because Ive been stagnant for almost 3 years! How this is possible is beyond reasoning. The most I do is climb stairs and walk now. My memory was really bad on tx but now I think its just menopause! Hehe At least thats what Im going with now.
My motto still remains ask questions and question everything. Be proactive in your healthcare and take notes. A key ingredient to making this treatment a success was keeping my other organs functioning. I kept my hep C doctor, a naturopath and my GP all very busy! A thorough cleansing was needed in the end with my naturopathic doctors help utilizing herbs, elimination of certain foods for 6 months, and lymphatic drainage therapy. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me.
I am so grateful to everyone on this forum. I could not have done it without you and I think about you all very much. Its nice to see the newer treatments and many success stories. My hope is that one day there will be a vaccination and a cure to kick this dragon goodbye forever!
