Do not listen to Tig on this one. (Man am I gonna get it!)
This is nothing but Toxic Waste. This Dragon dead or alive serves no useful purpose. Setting aside the crap, I would not so much as see it fit to share the same bowl with the foulest of Turds in light of the many innocent Gold Fish that are flushed daily.
Also let me be the first to say it is not a dying Dragon, it is dead! Congrats on the 4 week UND! Let the Zep continue now with the mop up. You got this!
I am very sorry that you are not feeling good but the fact is you get to look up from the pain and mock The Dragon that thought itself something. YOU got it!
Continue the course and join us that are SVR12+ in due order.

For those needing drug information, this is a good pdf
Dragging aboard with use of the handrail. My body is slower than my mind due to extrahepatic arthritis and cryoglobulinemia. So, I know where I am but it's a challenge to get there. Ha! I've just started my 6th week of Zepatier and I plan to gracefully leap to the platform by the time I reach my station. Already VL Undetected at 4 weeks so there's hope!
Zep Heads always pack a duffle full of hope!
Where are we supposed to put the pieces of dying dragon? Is it considered litter (or compost) if we toss it out a window?
Happy trails to all,

I'm bumping this thread back into discussion. We didn't have many people on this protocol at the same time, so I think it's time to reintroduce it. I trust all you Zep Heads (how's that for a nickname!) will take it and run! Feel free to make it yours, because it is. All Aboard!!

Some continuing good news regarding Zepatier.
"Zepatier treatment for 12 weeks, with or without ribavirin, was highly effective for induction of sustained virologic response in patients infected with hepatitis C genotypes 1, 4 or 6, who failed prior peg-interferon and ribavirin treatments, according to the results of the C-EDGE Treatment Experienced trial.
SVR12 was also achieved by patients with cirrhosis or a null response to previous treatment in this trial, and the treatment was generally well tolerated."

Sugar and promises? No way brother. Sugar is not good for them and promises are not needed. Just be Grandpa and that is good enough.
If you want to send them home and REALLY be happy, send them with noisy toys. A lil get back is not such a bad thing and can be therapeutic.

Hi Echo,
Greeting from one of the old timers around here!! As you've already realized, we are a big family of friends and fellow warriors. Nobody here takes anything for granted, will remain non judgemental, and assure you that we're here for you throughout this journey. We don't offer medical advice, but we're pretty good at offering helpful educated opinions. One thing I can assure you of is, we aren't judgemental and welcome everything you care to share. Some of us have traveled many miles and many decades with this disease and it doesn't matter how or where we got it, but that we get rid of it.
Zepatier is yet another new weapon in the arsenal against this disease. As you're already aware, the old treatments with Interferon were hell and I'm glad you were able to avoid them. The new DAA's, which Zepatier is considered, are extremely effective and as they continue to do research and trials, they will continue to improve. You have chosen to treat at a very good time. Your odds of success are excellent and the incidence of negative side effects has gotten quite low and those that come along, are easily tolerated. So do yourself a big favor and take a deep breath....... no worries okay? You're going to do fine and we'll be along on this ride with you. If you have any questions, just ask and we'll do our best to find the answer or solution. We try to always be available and as you can see, there are a lot of folks here around the clock that already consider you a friend.
There will be some differences in how you feel during treatment, but I don't believe you're going to have any problems taking care of those two wonderful kids. We're a big family here and if there happen to be times that the stress starts to mount, check in here and we'll help. Most of us have children, some young, some older, I'm a new Grandpa and let me tell you, I wish I could've had grandkids first! They're fun and you can send them home full of sugar and promises. It's just great. Seriously, you'll do just fine and the kids will have their Mom back, happy and healthy in no time at all.
I don't know how much information you have on Zepatier, but I thought I'd add a couple of links to the current data. The thing to concentrate on is it's rate of success, it's high! So do your best to relax, not worry unnecessarily and plan for success. Good luck!
I was just reading your introduction Silverecho and would like to join in welcoming you to the Family!
Here we laugh together and we cry together. We understand how the other feels and share in that. We also recognize the importance of keeping a positive attitude and in that we attempt to build each other up.
In particular, the recent new DAA's have given us here many sound reasons to lift our heads. It is amazing to see the progress and watching each other undergo the battle is inspiring.
I recently failed in my first attempt. My Doctor is in the middle of considering the best path forward. This morning I will going for a screening process for a new triple combination trial but I may not be accepted.
The fact is proton inhibitors would exclude me and I have a problem with Zollinger Ellison Syndrome. OTC Omeprozol does the trick but I am not supposed to take it on trial. They told me to use Zantac instead and after four days I know that was not going to work. This morning I will ask if they can prescribe something stronger that would qualify me and if not it is back to the drawing board.
I noticed you mentioned how scared you are of failure or whatever. Don't be. Not only does it do no good it is baseless at this point in time. New treatments are flooding the market and it feels like they are on the verge of a very simple cure. In the mean time no worries, get comfortable here, read and again, welcome to the Family!

Hello! I hope you are doing well! I was just prescribed Zepatier this week. I am in Canada. I'm so nervous! I am late 30's, I have been infected for 20 years already. I have 1a, and a super low viral load (300,000 approx). I have never been on treatment. Did you start taking it yet? I'm really scared about side effects as I have two children that depend solely on me. Hoping to get some info from someone taking it already. Best wishes on your journey!

No need for weight training. May consider during recovery mode but do not intend to be on a train then. That calls for the scooter. There is positively no better way to get your head clear ( for me anyways) than to just get out and ride.
You can also save the leather seats for the Harvoni train in that that is the one the lil Lady will be on. She kind of likes that stuff. As for me, so long as the one I am sitting in has not been peed in I am cool. In that this is such a new train should be good in that aspect.

Side affects for me based on my last and recent round of RiboMonster are expected to be less than fun let's say. However I am not in this for the fun so it will be what it will be. I deserve every rotten side effect that comes my way and then some so no problem. Just time to deal with it is all.
My Bike will no doubt remain parked for awhile and so will I. Nothing a lil battery tender and a fuel line preservation can't deal with. ;)

Hey JimmyK,
What a difference a day makes, eh?
Now you get to wear a grazo/elba/riba shirt?!
It doesn't sound like a "trial" (if your Dr. has already "ordered" the drugs), is it?? If so, what's the trail number?
If it IS a trial, has it already been decided in advance somehow that you WILL get 12 weeks of Zepatier AND RBV and not 16 wks. of Zepa without RBV??
I understand you are feeling lonely?hee hee
Happy you got your treatment options so soon!
Best, Canuck
First Class all the way Jimmy ... enjoy the ride!
Oh, and you will be assigned a personal food taster (for your safety).
I hear they've attached a weight training car right behind this one.
