Hi Ari. Congrats on completing the 10k walk. You certainly had some pretty scenery on the route. I edited your photo size to fit the forum display. Hope you don't mind. The full size image can still be viewed by clicking on the attachment. Good luck with your upcoming lab work and I hope the quakes / aftershocks are over with for all of you.

Holy Cow Ari!
Ya done good ... WTG!
Not a small feat, I don't think I could pull that off if I weren't doing Riba and it was on the flat lands. (Don't think I'll be trying anything even remotely similar for a few months).
Nice Pic,
Dave

Hi Ari,
Poor Christchurch. Sorry about the new quakes.
We're off to Auckland next month to tour North Island. My son and family are coming out from London- the DIL is from Invercargill.
We'll have 2 campervans, so I'm not sure about that. All the best for the tests.

Hi Everyone,
yesterday my friend and I completed the 10k walk I had been training for! I am very pleased with myself.
I now also have dates for my scans re the lesion that has attracted my specialists attention and a date with my specialist to get my final tx results and to discuss the scan results.
At this moment I am happy that I have the dates and it is no too long to wait until I find out what is going on.
Looking forward to 8 March!!
The pic was taken while on the walk looking down to Christchurch city with the Plains and Southern Alps in the background

... I hope you don't mean ... like earthquakes ...
Got my 4 wks labs, blood drawn today ... waiting, waiting always waiting aren't we ... lol
I hope ya get the aches and pains to smooth out, I can only guess but I'm thinking the further you get from Tx, the better you're going to feel, the more you'll want to get out and about, the better you'll feel ... then you're on a roll. Just keep doing what you're doing, things will improve, keep thinking positive, I do believe it helps.
Wishing you Well,
Dave

Thanks Dave, it's a lot quieter here now shake-wise, although apparently the chance of another big one in the next year is at 69%. . .
Thanks for thinking of me, I appreciate it.
Re SVR - in two weeks I go for the final blood test and get the result a week after that. It's is quite a nervous wait and distractions are good for me.

Hi Ari,
I saw about the quake in Google news and thought about how terrifying it must be for you all (due to the previous BIG ONE).
Thought of you and remembered reading about how your house was destroyed in the last one. I'm glad it was not such a big one this time ... but you could not have possibly know that at the time.
Take it easy for a bit more, get out some if you feel like it but no need to push it ... there'll be many more in the future and 10k is a tall order even for someone who hasn't just come off Tx.
Hey, the 12 wk mark is coming up shortly, right?
SVR time is drawing near ...
Wishing you the best,
Dave

Hi Everyone, I have not logged in for a bit - I got overwhelmed by life in general compounded by continuing struggles with recovering from treatment. I was tired a lot and feeling unwell - lucky I am starting to improve now. It's 10 weeks post tx.
I got down for a bit until about a week or so ago it occurred to me that if I wanted to walk the 10k event next weekend I needed to get training. Very soon I had my walking shoes on and was out there taking the long route to the supermarket. What an amazing difference getting some exercise can make!
I have been getting in some training and catching up on the neglected chores with renewed vigour until . . . .
Last Sunday I had just completed a 6k walk on the hills where the event is and was in the supermarket waiting at the checkout when a 5.7k (earthquake) aftershock hit. Hanging on for dear life while children were screaming and items were crashing from the shelves.
I got home to find (thankfully) that the worst was a broken vase - there were things off shelves throughout the house.
That was it for me - I was back into bed with a bar of chocolate. I managed to get up the next day and when my son came for dinner we discussed our differing reactions - the older generation tend to be more affected than the younger ones. I decided to take the wisdom of youth, accept I live in an earthquake zone and get on with my life regardless.
The track I was training on is closed now until it has been checked for loose rocks, fingers crossed the walking event - held in remembrance of the people killed in an earlier quake, will go ahead.
Background - just over 5 years ago the worse series of earthquakes to happen in a built-up area hit our city. We have had over 10,000 aftershocks since - they are expected to go on for decades. My house is due to be demolished and rebuilt this year.
