Tig hit it on the nail. I developed a very sweet tooth on sofosbuvir and gained about 2 kilos.
However, a few years back when I was on ribavirin I lost weight, about 4kgs. Now this may have been the interferon, or perhaps just because I felt wretched and consequently had less of an appetite.
My this very loose estimation sof + rib should cancel each other out!
But it's more about what we eat rather than the medication.
Ha ha Pablito,
You have such a ways with words and i like your thinking - by your math to drug ratio examples, it makes perfect sense!, sof + rib = 0 weight gain. Hee hee, I like your "loose" reckoning!. Late in life I have come to love math, well ... numbers really, especially ZERO! C.

Sorry to hear stress and lack of sleep are ongoing Wendy, you're doing all the right things to try to alleviate them, hope your doc helps you find the right combo to tame that a bit. Getting and keeping the blood pressure down is a biggie though so you're doin' good there.
Yes, TGIF ... have a nice relaxing weekend

you guys/gals crack me up between sweetie pervert and the dribbling creepy person. Could be a new horror or sci fi flick.
John many of us talk about DQ in numerous threads. I feel as long as it is in moderation
Hey Cheddy! Yes I kept going to the gym but remember I was on harvoni so the sides were not as bad as the TX's many of you all were on with geno 2 and 3. I am doing ok today. Got the blood pressure under control, labs revealed no issues just work stress. Dealing with starting menopause and that SUCKS. For me the lack of sleep is the worst. But I take it a day as a time and know it is not the end of the world. Waiting on lab results to see what we can do to manage those sides.
TGIF!

Ivery. I lost about 4 lbs when for a few weeks, but over all I stayed exactly the same. When I wasn't doing much, I didn't feel like eating as much. Can't say I had a sweet tooth. I think eating healthy food helps a lot.
Nice work on getting healthy!!!!!!

Hi John,
Great job on the lifestyle changes! That's what it takes to make a big difference such as the very noticeable changes that your pictures tell. I just wrapped up my treatment using Sovaldi/ Ribavirin and my weight remained steady throughout. As others have pointed out, you may not feel as energetic and need to back off a little as the Ribavirin saturates your system but since you are now used to regular exercise you'll do great.
You will need to keep your water intake steady through treatment with a full gallon per day, extra important with exercise.
Glad to see you off to such a great start, you'll do great, if you do start to crave sweets, just aim for natural sweets such as fruits, raisins, carrots etc.
Be Well,
Dave

Wow, what a transformation John. No wonder you don't want to back slide. My weight remained constant during treatment. I agree entirely with Tig regarding different story effects of Sof and riba.
Take care,
Syd

I was on a different TX but I continued to work out maybe one day less then pre TX and I maintained, no gain or loss. Keep doing what you are doing John, hydrate, eat smart and listen to your body. If I needed to rest and not go to the gym that is what I did. Take care of you!

I guess it depends how much fatigue you get. I have noticed that people whom sport have a lot less side effects and continue sporting verses people who do not. Looking at photo 2, I'd say you'll be fine. However, even if you gain a little its OK, its just a temporary thing. You look very healthy and happy. :)

Thank you, I exercise daily, jog and try to eat healthy. At 1 time I was 295lbs. A drinking, smoking, fast food, unhealthy mess!! But I changed my lifestyle and now I'm 200lbs. It took saot of work to get here and I pray to stay here.

That's kind of a toss up with Sovaldi and Ribavirin. Sovaldi protocols have been known to cause the development of a sweet tooth. Ribavirin on the other hand, causes some anemia, which may lead to some fatigue, lack of appetite at times and may result in some weight loss. It will be determined by your own metabolism and how many banana splits you put away if that sweet tooth attacks!!
If you concentrate on a healthy diet, stay active and hydrate properly, you shouldn't have a problem either way. You're in control, remember that!
