Greetings and Welcome!
I would like to comment on the 20 years clean. That is a HUGE accomplishment. You did that so you CAN do ANYTHING you put your heart and mind to do.
I have 30 years post dope fiend / Ex-Con and I can tell you Life is Beautiful! Of course with 20 years clean you already know that. And Family is a true Blessing!
The Dragon is simply a leftover from times past and that Dragon has now met his match.
Welcome to The Family!

Hello Tiger and welcome!!
Great news about your Abbvie tx (treatment) and congrats on being undetected at 4 wks, you`re well on your way to beating this already!
Most of us here understand only too well how stressful and upsetting it is when you get the diagnosis of HCV, especially when we think we`ve moved on from the past and finally got our lives together, and I know full well how relieved you must feel knowing that your family are free from infection.
All the best of luck, please do keep us updated on your progress! We`re happy to have you here with us...

Welcome Dave,
glad you are on treatment, you'll do great and you'll beat the dragon.
Drink lottsa water of course.
I know the relief of not passing this dragon onto family! I carried and nursed my kids not knowing I had it, and when they tested negative I cried with relief.

Welcome Dave.
One lucky thing already is that you found this forum. There are lots of well informed and experienced people here to help you along and face any problems you may have. They sure pulled me through some mud and I'm doing better than ever in many ways.
I, too, am glad your family is okay. You know what? You will be, too. It is one heck of a shock and the mind rolls out a lot of scenarios. The only real one is the next step. Take them one at a time. Find new heights of patience. You will find yourself on the other side. This stuff works these days.

Hi Dave,
so glad they discovered your hep c status before it did more damage. And if you had to find out, now is a great time. The old drugs had a lot of side effects and a low success rate so now is a great time to get better. Most of these new DAAs seem to be virtually side effect free. Most importantly no one in your family has it - it is pretty hard to contract other than blood to blood contact, but still an amazing relief to know they are okay.
Let us know how you are travelling.

Oh, it can be a very upsetting time indeed. We were all a bit stunned by the news and how we came to have it doesn't matter now. It's time to get rid of it and close that chapter of your life. It'll happen in due time. Look how long it took to get where you are. By the Spring you'll be done and on the road to recovery. Look to the future, Dave. It looks pretty bright from here!

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the group but we call ourselves a family. I'm glad you're here.
You should do very well on this protocol, especially the 24 week course. That will be long enough to do a thorough Dragon stomping!
If you need any help, please ask. Others will be along to welcome you here. Good things are happening all the time, time to get on board and reap the benefits of a hep free liver. Good luck!
