Yes, this turned out to be a LOT of Chili. After hand roasting them I place them in 1 Gallon Freezer Bags, seal um and put them to bed in the Freezer that I have put in the garage. Roughly a dozen to a bag.
Not Bell Peppers, no. This has a bit more of a kick to it.
I bought three varieties and they differ in temps.
The Pictured Chili's in the pan with potatoes, beef, onion and Garlic were Big Jim. Those would be Med/Hot.
The Sandia is Hot and the Lumbre is X-Hot.
There is also a mild variety and a medium but I don't mess with them. They are ok but ya have to have a little bit of a kick to life. If you have to pour Hot Sauce on Chili, then ya bought the wrong Chili.
But in the case of Green Chili even the X-Hot is nothing like some of the more mad dog hot stuff out there. It is all actually a pretty interesting study.
There is a thing called the Scoville Scale. It is not exact because folks themselves differ, but it is a good way to rate the heat index of a particular variety.
The medium tends to be 1,000 to 2,500 Scovilles.
The Joe Parker is 1.500 to 3,000 Scovilles.
Big Jim (the ones I had in the pan) are 2,500 to 3,000 Scovilles. (From this you can see Joe Parker and Big Jim have the same top measure but Big Jim has a higher starting point so better in my book.)
The Sandia Chili is 5,000 to 7,000 Scovilles.
For comparative purposes only, if you have ever had a Habanero, those come in at 100,000 to 350,000 Scovilles. The red ones even higher.
The Carolina Reaper holds the grand title coming in at > 2,200,000 Scovilles. This is the point were you do not want to be anywhere near a knife as you would be likely to cut yer tongue out.
All that said to say the ones I bought and love have a nice little zing to them to add flavor. I'll toss in a chili index just for reference.
The health benefits are actually quite amazing. http://www.nutrition-and-you.com/chili-peppers.html
Most folks know that if you are able to take in vitamins and minerals from natural food sources it is better for you than supplements.
"Scientific studies on experimental mammals suggest that capsaicin has anti-bacterial, anti-carcinogenic, analgesic and anti-diabetic properties. It also found to reduce LDL cholesterol levels in obese persons."
Having achieved SVR I intend to take a bit healthier approach to the gift of life granted to me. Certain foods, including Chili is a planned approach that fits the bill.
Wow Jimmy, that must mean you have a **** load of chiles and I use that word advisedly as I don't think constipation would be an issue at your place.
seriously that dish looks absolutely beautiful. They are not bell peppers are they? I think we call them capsicums. If they really are all chiles then that must be one hot mother of a dish.
how much longer until you guys hop on that boat? It must be really coming up fast now.
Syd.

To be honest your idea is far better an investment, but this is not a number of Animals taking up residence in my garage, it is Chile's and they can be used in a number of ways.
One example only, in order to bring picture to the meaning is shown below.
New Mexico Chili is the Green and Red
Combined with some beef, onion, potato, garlic and the all important... fork.
This combination I use on everything with the exception of Pancakes. Particularly good on Fried Eggs, Bean Burritos, and assorted "toys".
By the way. Most Chile is extremely good for the immune system and is a very powerful Anti-Occident.

The many very kind words are appreciated. It all seems so strange now.
During both treatment plans I felt like I was in my element. There was a fight to be fought and I felt at ease with that.
Now what the heck do I do?
During treatment, I would obsess with certain things. I would find something like Watches and the next thing I knew some treatment time had passed, and I ended up with 8 Watches.
Then the BBQ adventures led me to getting a monster set up. Side Burner, Gas Grill next to a Charcoal Grill, next to that an offset Fire Box. Perfect for just about anything eh?
That was until I got a wild hair for New Mexico Chili. Then I had to grill and freeze a butt-load of those and while talking to the Manager of the local HEB I talked him into selling me 75 lbs ( 3 boxes ).
Came home all kinds of happy because I closed it at an incredible price. That is when Carol pointed out that the Freezer on the Samsung was in no way able to deal with 75 lbs of frozen chili while at the same time dealing with normal loads such as Turkeys for upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas. She says "Now what smart guy"?
I'm like,
:Honey let's buy a freezer for the garage!"
She is all...
So we bought a freezer. Now I had room so I started ordering Chili from Hatch Chilies direct. Picked on Tuesday and at my door by Friday 25 pounds per box.
I now have 150 lbs frozen and one final box arriving Friday. (Last for this season)
Then in usual fashion I started looking at the BBQ set up and it was not good enough. There was no way to set up a Rotisserie, so Mr Smart Guy needed to do something about that. The picture below is the latest addition. Another BBQ, Rotisserie, tumble basket for Chilies, and one final round of from Carolyn.
All of the above I attribute to Treatment, then a miserable Failure, short wait and new Treatment, sweating if Carolyn was going to be cured, she was, then yesterday I find out I am, and now it all comes to a screeching halt with "Now what am I gonna do?"
Psssst. Anyone wanna buy a watch?

Both Carolyn and I appear to be cured. Feels very odd to say it after so many years, but SVR-12 is pretty cool. ;)

Hey Bro,
I finally "got" one of your concise, cryptic, messages! - first time round!!!, without anyone having to expound on it, 'splain it to me!! Pictures always help in my case. (At least .... Whal, I figure it's the holiday shirt that Jimmy built! - design by Jimmy. His numbers, oddly modeled by tkflex36? (of all people!!), sleeve length by popular request, basic black ensemble to match stockings and footwear, syd would approve. One size fits all - perfectly!!! Really cool. One is well dressed and ready to go ANYWHERE in that! I just love it! C.
