Hi Canuck,
Yes that a little, but I don't think its that, I've had some serious ache for the last few days, really unrelenting, I'm not sure if its my intestines, or something above them. I don't think its my liver as my pee is a healthy colour, but something is going on. I don't have a blockage but I feel something a little hard and painful on my right side on the intestine. It kind of omits pain all up my right so I thought it was my liver, but it is actually lower. I must admit my mind is a little over drive about it, because I already had my appendix removed, so it won't be that. I will get it looked at and see what they say. Just when one thing gets sorted, something else bloody arrives lol! Hopefully its some kind of muscle injury. :)

Good for you Pablo, to go and get that extra PCR! Soooo ... shall we consider this your EOT+17 3/4 week VL then?, you will still get the EOT+24?? I consider it a big bonus, not a waste, worth every pence. Congrats on your EOT+17.75 week UND! I will still look forward to your EOT+24! Now everyone is gunna want a 17 3/4 one!
I think Loopy Lisa too is having a little of the pre-requisite squirmish/jittery waitin', waitin', waitin' syndrome... Loopy, you could always go get yourself a nice cheap quick LFT so you can see how your ALT is doing, that might feel good in the meantime to at least see those? Just fer sumptin to do, while yer waitin' ... ? Just a thought, in case you get to feeling real antsy. Why is it we all always have to do this fretting to some degree!! This whole waitin' thing sucks!
About our double-down-dog-cute lady, I liked her advice (just on principal) good for blood sugar spikes too. I have had very poor gorge-like-a-pig-'til-bustin'- twice-a-day habits all my life, and I tell ya, I shouldn't do it!! As much as I am lazy and loathe to make efforts to change dietary habits (I have made some!), I do think she had some valid points about overeating.
I have had some curious spots (for many years now) which I never really fully ever figured out, but since becoming UND, slowly they have lessened or ceased - so the jury is still out on whether they were or were not liver related. Torso pain, right lower quadrant, but more at side and posterior rather than abdominal, so had always just chalked it up to probably being back muscle/skeletal/orthopedic in origin or nature, but "maybe" it WAS liver all this time?
Another weird nearly-drove-me-crazy, intractably bothersome "spot", Both at the same time, a spot that felt deadened sensory-wise, frozen to the touch, neuropathy-like, but as well, was intensely deeply pruritic with no relief from scratching whatsoever!! This golf-ball sized spot too was right upper quadrant, but anterior thoracic, and above liver area - hmm, obviously hard to describe eh? Hoping, they have gone now, or are going!
Boy DO I ever appreciate all the feedback and info we share, where would I be without all you!! C.

I really can understand why you felt the need to have a further PCR done, and of course you were still UND, but I should think it was well worth if for peace of mind. (Congrats again!) A couple of years ago I was going through a phase of feeling very tired, the sort of profound fatigue I used to get before I did my tx, and luckily I managed to persuade my GP to get a viral load test done for me, which of course was still negative. I would have been prepared to pay for that peace of mind though, if I`d had to. And by the way, I never get liver pains any more, 5 years post tx, although they did hang around for a while.

OK confession time: I was sufficiently worried about the liver pains and possible relapse that I went and got a private lab VL. It was UND. Unlike the US, in the UK you can't rock up to a lab for a blood test without a referral from a doctor so I've just wasted £300 on a private doctor and blood test that was always going to be negative. At least I have peace of mind.

One always has to rule out only about a thousand (common or obscure) other reasons for abdominal discomfort as well! IS it really the liver we can blame for the right quadrant discomfort, or it is some other offending bit of something?? Who knows? Then, there is "referred" pain which can always present a confusing picture almost impossible to figure out first off. Don't ya just wish we had xray vison, or could just jump in there and look around? My mind always travels to common run-of-the-mill gall bladder grumbling, or sludgey, overworked ones, or ones with gravel or stones (but that's just me and my pet theories). Nice if a routine abd. ultrasound or tests have not picked up anything noticeably wrong with the GB then that might easily be struck of the list of about a zillion other things that might be responsible. Ya never know, lots of people even without a history of HCV can have gallbladder symptoms. Epigastric distress, bowel, skeletal, even renal can sometimes present weirdly. Lots of times, nothing is figured out, and pings/pangs of pain although disconcerting, may abate, disappear, or just is, and may come and go.
Worth keeping mental notes on it though, (especially if it concerns you) as maybe, later, in retrospect you may better glean a likely reason for it, whether you can prove it or not! In the meantime, I fancy your delightful scenario of scar tissue disentangling and letting loose from your liver!! That's a good image!
A long time ago, before treatment, I was studying up on liver (and pains), jeesh, there is just a TON of stuff out there about it, from sell-you-a-miracle cures, to horror stories, to funny and scientific ones!! I went back and looked and found this one again! I post it, not because it is right or the best, or anything like that, but only (1) because she has one simple cause and effect theory reason, IF you have cirrhosis and are OVER eating, and (2) because she is just (aaw) SO GALL DARN SWEET and only means well! Bless her heart!. C.
Good to know I am not alone and sorry to hear about your troubles SF.
Re my hypothesis that the pain relates to the liver healing, I have no proof and it could be wishful thinking, but it kind of makes sense to me. If you cut your hand scar tissues forms to heal the wound, the tissue around this swells and it hurts as as a building site's worth of cellular activity takes place under the skin. After years of abuse care of HCV my liver is now disentangling the scar tissue and some pain is involved.
Just a theory though.

Most likely simple inflammation in the area surrounding the liver and not the liver itself. I am SVR 12, non cirrhotic and feel the same way.
We all need continued monitoring even after successful treatment and a proper assessment by your Medical Team is the only way to know for certain.
Always remember even folks who have never had Hep C need to be evaluated throughout life for things that are normal during the ageing process.
Brother, like me you are just now getting used to a life without Hep C. Our attention has been for a long time focused on Hep C. We do not yet know how to focus on normal because we have not had time to understand what normal is. ;)

Hi all
I've been getting quite a few liver pains recently. More so than before or on treatment. I don't think it's a sign of relapse as I was UND at EOT+12 so - thinking positively - perhaps it's my liver healing itself.
Before treatment I used to occasionally get brief darting pangs and dull aches in the upper right quadrant of the abdomen and, more rarely, a burning sensation in the same region with pain radiating to my right shoulder tip.
The recent pains are not like these. They are more like a slight roiling sensation (to use Canuck's phrase) in liver area...like something is unravelling (?fibrosis untangling).
In my darker moments I wonder about HCC. I haven't had an ultrasound for a few years, but it's unlikely given I am (only) F2.
The other thing to throw into the equation is that I haven't been drinking tonnes of water like I did on treatment. I actually felt better on DAAs than off, and I now wonder was it the water.
Yes it would Pablito, but this year I am doing a Rooster.

Anyway, be good to hear your thoughts.
