That tends to agree with the incidence of cirrhosis (F4). The figure I'm most familiar with is that up to 20% of us with HCV, will develop cirrhosis. There will still be many with mild to advanced fibrosis. Rare is anyone chronically infected without some degree of inflammation and evidence of fibrosis. The genotype and co-existing factors can always change the rates of incidence.

On page 3 under the 'HCV profession' para it says that only 10-25% of people who develop chronic HCV develop fibrosis over a 10 to 40 year time frame.  Surely this can't be right?  I would have thought it's the other way round: only 10-25% of people don't develop significant fibrosis.

Is this true?  "The liver detoxifies substances that are harmful to the body. It can regenerate its own tissueas much as 3/4 of the liver can regenerate within a few weeks."

Thank you for posting this.  It is always good to have the latest information.

Honestly, I don't know why doctors don't put the HVC test automatically on every lab test when a person has a yearly physical (Once of course) that are in that high risk age group. There have been so many articles about this. It's time to stop talking about it and doing it from the Top down. People are not knowledgeable enough that they will ever know to even request it.
