Hi Jammers,
I'm glad you were able to get it resolved with antibiotics. My sister in law, like you, came down with a severe case of it and ended up in surgery. You're fortunate to have avoided anything so invasive. It's surprising to find out that diverticulitis is a very common problem as we age. All those hot pepper salsa's and sesame seed snacks have a way of catching up to us! My grandma used to have an awful time of it. She would do some things with her diet and I think some bowel cleanses, that always fixed her up. I wish I had asked her about that. She was born on a ranch in Arizona about 1900. They knew more home remedies than WebMD!
You are getting close to the EOTville! How wonderful that day is and will be for you. You're our only member that is currently talking about their treatment right now. So, you've got our complete attention and your cheering section is all yours! You'll be done before you know it and I'm certain you'll be our next success story. Keep up the fight!

Super glad your trip to ER went well and they made you feel at ease with having to go there in these trying times, jammers.
also glad your problem was as you and your Dr figured and is manageable with antibiotics and a slight diet adjustment ..... unfortunate you have to give up your salsa.. but it will make life more pleasant in the long run
yipee yahoo for week 7 ....the finish line is getting close...
btw...even 4 years after treatment I still drink tons of water..its a great habit, even without having to flush DAAs out it helps with avoiding headaches and insomnia

An update. I did go to the ER yesterday and they did run some scans and blood work and the whole 9 yards and I do have diverticulitis which they say should be managed with the Anti-biotics for 10 days. I've never had this it is the first time , so hopefully it will improve and I can take better precautions against it.
I went to the hospital with a week supply of Mavyret just in case they decided to admit me.
For anyone concerned in the least about taking Mavyret I would say just do it. Stick to a daily regimen of taking it on a full stomach, drinking water throughout the day and for any potential headache anything but ibuprofen. I just use aspirin.
I was so impressed with the overall professionalism, compassion and bravery of all in the medical profession in these trying times.
In week seven.
Stay safe all.
Oh btw that great salsa is from a company called Desert Pepper. I shall miss it.

Have run into a little complication. Heading in for some imaging to see if what I am experiencing is a flare up of diverticulitis. Ugh.
I am not going to do anything to compromise these last 2 weeks.
If it is diverticulitis they would prescribe some heavy anti d's.

Needless to say I will bring along 40 ounces of water for my hospital visit today.

I'm glad things are going well for you Jammers! Water and rest are always a great way to help your body deal with treatment. I'm not surprised that you're experiencing few side effects, that's a great big plus with these new DAA's. It's a wonderful thing!
As for these medications and their impact on COV19, it just so happens that they are studying the efficacy of these antivirals on the virus. Gilead is in the forefront of pharmaceutical researchers dealing with this right now. So everything we have done in the past, related to the trials, is being studied again for use against this current crisis. We continue to provide that pioneer spirit when our world needs us the most. We'll succeed, I'm sure of it. If we don't soon, I'll be 300 pounds! That's the last thing I need. Puzzles and food have been my life the last two weeks.
Keep up the good work, that Dragon has received it's eviction notice.

You’re going to be amazed by the changes in your liver function and of course, your viral load, if they do one. You can always ask your doctor to perform one. They used to check the viral count during treatment, but have begun waiting til the end of treatment and very often until 12 weeks after. Regardless, you’ll be able to see the improvements in all the other results.
