my last fibro was in f2 and the liver doc said if it's still f2 in March [a year later] she won't even need to see me anymore. She said my fam.doc can do all the required tests [which she has been anyway also].
they had us doing them every 6 mo. before covid then I said yearly would be good enough for me.
it's good to hear that every few years should be good enough with the yearly blood tests [was doing those every 6mo. too].
I just wanted some input on what others' felt was ok.
Have you done a fibrosure to see if the F is gone down? I know those go up and down [hubs went up recently but all his LFT'S are good....and he's still in F2 just a few points higher]. He was close to F4 at the beginning of TX
cool that your wife is a sonographer

Hey 5,
What have your Fibrosure results been following SVR? I know your had a baseline of F3, so you were getting close to a fibrosis stage that indicates cirrhosis.I was also F3, by biopsy, and over the years, since my wife is a sonographer, I had liver ultrasounds frequently. My doctors didn't recommend I get one after a few years SVR. They felt following the LFT’s and tumor marker tests were enough to monitor liver health.
That said, I recommend you discuss it with your hepatologist, or gastroenterologist (if possible), and get their input. I personally don’t think it’s something you are required to do, because of your F score, and your continued good health since then. That said, if having annual, or every other year scans provides you additional confidence in your liver health, I see no reason to rule them out.

Hi everyone,
I have a question for the people in svr for over 3yrs.
If you have continued good enzymes and fibrosure tests , do you still get yearly liver ultrasounds?
I have a $100.00 copay and I am now on a fixed income so am wondering if this is just one of those things they make us do that may not be needed every year. I get the afp tumor marker every 6 months along with the other blood labs.
It could be that the abscan was called "complete abdominal" since I wanted to check my kidneys too...and maybe the liver scan is only $25. copay.
Thanks Tig,
