Huh, interesting stuff Heather, was wondering about vit D and pre-tx, as have been soooooo exhausted, do not think they have ever tested for that, but my EBV levels are really high too, just presumed it was from that on top of C.  Thanks for the info...oxox Iris

Thanks for sharing this Heather, it`s very interesting and I will certainly be looking into it! smile

There is a noticeable lack of post tx support or advice given by the professionals, and considering how many people do have ongoing health problems after completing their tx, any new avenue to explore is very welcome.

Let`s hope you find it makes a difference - keep us posted! thumbsup.gif

Love from Jill xxx

No worries Jeremy.  Vitamins etc can often be a sensitive subject on the forum, but Vit D is proving to be very important in relation to successful hep c treatment, and possibly post-tx/hcv recovery.

It has become apparent how beneficial taking Vitamin D supplements during tx can be helpful to attain SVR (under supervision from your GP), however Vitamin D still seems to be important post-tx too.

I am speaking from my own personal experience here and i'm not in any way medically trained.  However, i was referred to a chronic fatigue specialist who has recently informed me that my Vit D levels were below the number that they can detect (<14) and so i have a deficiency.  I am to be started on quite high doses of vit d and hopefully within a few months, i will notice a difference.

My reason for posting this here is that i know of a few people who also have deficiencies post-tx, and so i personally believe that this may be an ongoing issue for some people, post-tx.  There is no harm in asking your GP for a test to get it checked out and who knows, it may even explain some lingering issues people have post-tx...

As always, we recommend that no-one (especially those on tx) takes vitamins or supplements without first consulting with their medical team, or someone experienced to give that advice!!

Hugs
