Alan, it seems everything hubby is going through, you've already blazed the trail.  As much as I'm thankful for your advice, I'm so sorry that you've had to go through it!  As always, thanks for sharing.

Kiwi,  it may be just a "Texas Thang" but sometimes............... LOL

Lyle, all I can say is wow and I'm so sorry you've had all those problems!  I honestly thought blood lettings were something they stopped 100 years ago.  Just shows how little I know about all of this!  I don't think hubby has a problem with too much RBC but we'll watch it if it ever gets back to normal!

I use to get those blisters. Went to a dermatolagist. I have another illness, porferea contarta something. It is caused by liver problems.
I causes you to produce too much red blood cells, and too much hemoglobin. to much hemoglobin breaks down and reacts to sunshine hitting your skin. I always got the blisters, and weak skin on the backs of my hands. When i went on the old combo treatment, it went away, because the treatment cut down on my red blood cells, after that, i had to have blood lettings every 2 - 3 months. phlobodemys

haha. kept me off the roof with the rifle. love that one... yeh this forum has saved me more than a few times...

Yes, they do get sort of embarassing when they break. Mine had a shallow depression in the flesh under the blister, and when they would break the whole thing seemed to "cave in" a little, then the healing seemed to take forever. I would put on a little first aid cream and a band-aid, which seemed to speed things up.

You are so right, Elizabeth. There is never a dull moment in this tx. If you think you got it figured out, you obviously overlooked something. Maybe you can get that test re-run close to the actual 12-week time. As I have said earlier, a few of the regulars in here had to quit Incivek early because of severe rash reactions, and to my knowledge they are all still UND on peg and riba alone.

Give the ol' man a swat for me, and tell him we're thinking about him.

Thanks, Alan.  You are always such a wealth of information and we appreciate it.  I don't think they're bothering him much other than ending up being kind of nasty sores when they break.  Seems the fun with this tx just never ends!  

After stopping the Incivek they were going to check his viral load (12 wk test 12 days early) and the lab sent back that something was wrong with the blood sample and it couldn't be used.  That's not a huge problem -- it's just that you're always on pins and needles waiting for those results.   A person could really get frustrated with all of this, but this forum and the great people have certainly kept me "off the roof with the rifle" so to speak.

I used to get those, along with just very delicate skin on my hands. The slightest bump would cause a nasty injury. But once I got on treatment they seemed to go away. I have been convinced all along that the blisters and injuries had to do with the sorry condition of my liver. But that has never been verified by a doctor. I put up with this for years prior to starting treatment. As long as he is comfortable you may want to wait and show the doc on your next visit. But if it gets worse, or causes discomfort, he should go in. I found it came in waves which didn't seem to align with anything else going on. Just out of the blue here they would come.

After being taken off of the Incivek 12 days ago, my husbands rash is finally subsiding.  Now he is getting water blisters on his hands, not quite as large as a dime.  Has anyone heard of this or had this problem?  We're not sure whether he needs to be seen again or not.
