A lot of reports of joint pain! Shoulder and hip pain sent me to the doctor originally and that's when my liver enzymes were high and I was diagnosed. It went away during treatment, but is now back post. I had X-rays and now have diagnosis of arthritis in back and hips (I'm 50). I'm beginning to think HCV causes arthritis. Thoughts!

At nearly 5 weeks post-tx, I have a seriously locked muscle spasm/nerve pinch in my left neck/shoulder that refuses to succumb to any deep tissue massage therapy, traction, or anything.  Started the exact day I stopped tx.  This makes it difficult to start working out again, but I would love to get back to my 3 - 5 miles, daily.  I am still very sensitive to sun......5 mins in the sun will make me skin peel off and start itching.  My hair continues to fall out; it's really looking like I'm going to lose it all.  Hasn't slowed down at all.  Back does hurt more, and sometimes get weird pains and twitches.  But overall I feel SO much better.

Hey Guys!!
Wow --I had to actual count the weeks to see how long it has been. I am almost 10 weeks post and since getting the thyroid somewhat under control--feeling much, much better. Aches and pains--yes --mostly in the knees, lower back, wrists--it is not bad most of the time. More annoying. Have been getting to a pilates class once or twice a week, walking almost every day for 45 minutes to an hour, and even gone on a couple of short bike rides. I do get tired easy--and there is some post workout achiness. But getting better every day!! ( as long as thyroid doesn't go ballastic again).

And ... I really want a new couch!

We're going to re-do the living room, and the couch will be going to the dump, as will the wife's worn-out recliner.; two brand new recliners will be the replacements.  We'll be playing "musical table & chairs" with all the furniture so that....gosh, I don't know why, maybe just because we can!

At 5 weeks post I am feeling better too!  I have more energy and am also graduallly increasing my workouts so I can get back to where I was before treatment :)  I have had my share of joint pain with treatment but have a bad back and hip anyway so it caused them to flare up even more.

I'm about 7 weeks post.  I've been working out lightly again for 4 weeks.  The day after workout aches are definitely more intense and last longer.  I don't know whether it's drug related or just due to the six months of inactivity.  But it's starting to improve a little.

Best,  Dave

Hey man- I'm dealing with a flair of RA after treatment. It was pretty rough during but a huge annoyance now, after tx. Shoulders, knee's, wrist, etc. I'm doing a pretty intense regime of meds for the RA and hoping for remission. In the mean time I'll toss myself against the wall of exercise, yoga and physical exertion to try and build my muscles back which atrophied during treatment. Itf it ain't one thing it's 5biggrin. So on it goes..............Oh yeah I've lost about 30 l bs since tx, 189 when I started 159 this morning.

 Phil,

that all sounds pretty familiar...I like the term non-ergonomic, I would have used "decrepit" to describe my couch.

Throughout tx and after I've kept on my twice daily dog walks- about 30 minutes total, and another 1/2 hr/daily on my eliptical, but I can tell I've lost a goodly amount of upper body muscle mass in the 6 months since I retired.

I have saved some $$ to buy a year's membership at the local gym, just need to get started.

Tim, Glad that its getting better. At 12 weeks post, I feel completely normal most of the time. Having more problems with sinuses, maybe nothing to do with tx. I relate to the joint pains completely - shoulder, elbow, hip, and particularly the back. These are not new, had them before tx, but went away during tx for the most part. I suspect they improved because I wasn't using them, and now I'm working out regularly again. Old age and sins of the past, I guess. The back, however, is more frequent and more intense. My theory for what its worth is that life on a non-ergonomic couch, atrophy of my back and ab muscles, and the lbs I've put back on from an all time low during tx have not helped one bit.

Hi all, life is getting better(but slowly) since halting treatment a month ago, energy level is a bit more elevated, flu-like symptoms still wash over my body from time to time.  Rash is about 99.999% gone....but not forgotten!   Sometimes a hot shower will cause the psoriasis-like lesions to pop out like they had never left.    But, that all is fairly minimal compaired to the on-treatment days, what's become a bit of an annoyance as of late are the hip-shoulder-knee joint aches, and back pains that may be more cramp than muscular pain.

Are any of you post tx folks experiencing these types of issues, or is it just a matter of being over-sixty and over-weight?       rolleyesil.gif
