Hi supportive wife,

I've gone back over your posts. You have asked a lot of questions, Forum Members have replied, but we're not getting anywhere. If you haven't had any blood tests by now, we're wasting our time. Without basic blood test results we're going in circles.  As for your doctor (who has HepC) who you have had for years, is he a Hepatologist or a GP.  Did he supervise your husband's first unsuccessful treatment in 2006? As I said previously, if your husband is still drinking alcohol, it's a waste of time trying to get treatment. Before you post again, try to get the results of hubby's bilirubin, albumin and liver function tests.

what is attermittent jaundice and what causes that?

Often there are no symptoms at all. The disease progresses slowly over decades and while damage occurs, it occurs very slowly. If he has intermittent jaundice now that will likely disappear if it is as Jill stated, a result of the first or acute phase. Often when HCV reaches the chronic phase that people tend to experience for decades, all symptoms disappear. Some will have mild to moderate complaints from aches and pains but most won't attribute that to hepatitis.

Hi again SW, so the doctor said your husband`s high blood pressure is being caused by his headaches, or do you mean it`s related to his headaches?  Could you explain a bit more about that, please?  When you say doctor, do you mean a doctor who specialises in liver disease and Hep C, like a Hepatologist or GI?

When you`ve had the test results back and have more information it will be easier for us to reply to your questions.

If he were really sick would he not have other symptoms besides the yellowing.  His doctor said the high blood pressure was coming from his headaces he was having.  He does get tired but really no other symptomes I can see.  His urine is good and maybe this a little over the top but I have checked it cause I thought maybe he was telling me stories.  He has gained some weight over the last 8 months from 185 to 192 I dont think that is too bad it is overweight and we have been working on that.  However, his doctor has Hep C too didnt know that til went and talked to him  he has been our doctor for years.

Intermittent means when the jaundice comes and goes, and is not there all the time.   Jaundice is the name for the yellow skin tint you`ve noticed your husband getting from time to time.   

You mentioned in a previous post that your husband has been infected for several years and had a previous attempt at treatment in 2006.  As hubby hasn`t had any tests done since then it`s difficult for us to tell whether his Hep C has progressed any further.  It`s probably a good idea for you to write down a list of questions to ask the doctor next time you speak to him.

Hello again its been a while since I have been on here.  I did get my husband to go to the doctor and they blood work results not in however, I did talk to his doctor and he said about the yellowing if it stays then worry but if it comes and goes and that is what I see then he is ok.  Has anyone else experienced this?  He also now has high blood pressure and never had it before any comments.

Hi supportive wife, I`m glad your husband has seen a doctor now.  People usually only get jaundice (`yellowing`)in the early acute phase of Hep C, which is roughly the first 6 months of the infection, and it`s unusual to see it after that.  I should let the doctor know if it comes back.

Did you or your husband speak to the doctor about his high blood pressure?  If so, what did he say about it?
