Hi LaBajista

I glad to hear that result as well and I totally agree with Jill say what you need to. I think all of us worry and think anything we feel in symptoms, forget to do, or let slip will set us back, So Take the UND and run with it keep going you can do it

Wow, no one could possibly think anyone deserves to be re-infected, really, seriously wow!

I'm glad you are OK, would have been really terrible to have been re-infected. I can't wait for the day to say "I HAD" Hep C.

Take care x

She has some mental issues and won't usually leave her bedroom.  Our friendship is fading, honestly, so perhaps it won't be much of an issue any longer.

Thanks for the response.

Hi LaBajista, I`m sorry you didn`t receive a clear answer to your question, and of course you should be able to speak freely, here of all places, without fear of criticism.  We are here to give you support, not judge you, and no-one here would wish you any harm at all, please rest assured.

Anyway, I`m very pleased to hear you`ve received an UND result, what a relief, congratulations!  smile

Take care of yourself, and I wish you all the best with your future. xx

Well no one did answer my question. Perhaps I should have left out the details, but I'd included them so I wouldn't have to explain myself. Wrong choice I guess. But visiting a friend once in a while is NOT living some bad lifestyle.

Anyway I finally found out the answer myself, from multiple sources online, and I am quite confident that it is true. It seems that a viral load test would come back positive within a couple weeks of reinfection. My test was more than 5 weeks later.

I received the results of my bloodwork yesterday, and I am good, UND, liver enzymes fine. I am incredibly relieved! And if any of you are thinking of telling me that I deserved that scare, just don't.

Hi LaBajista, you`re obviously trying hard to avoid the company you used to hang around with, and it must be difficult trying to continue seeing your friend when she`s still involved with that circle of people.  Maybe you could you explain that you would prefer her to visit you at your home, or somewhere else that is convenient to you both?  I know how hard it can be to extricate yourself from previous harmful scenes, it`s not always that straightforward, and no doubt there are others here who have been through similar situations.   Stay true to your desire to stay clean, and keep moving forward with your life, it`s so well worth it.  It`s clear that you already know that, of course.

Please do let us know when you get your results.  I`m keeping my fingers crossed for you... it`s good to hear from you again, and I wish you all the best. ~ Jill xx smile

This is a timely reminder of the dangers of re-infection. Do we want to go through all of this crap, get our SVR, and then get re-infected by going back to old habits? As SVR will get 'easier' with shorter Rx's with less Sx, there is a danger of taking SVR for granted, and not the precious thing we all worked so hard and long for.

Please consider a change in lifestyle to avoid the possibility.

I think your question is impossible to determine. Since you didn't reach your EOT +6 before getting exposed again, you'll never know if its a relapse or a new exposure. There is the possibility that your genotype will be different if your newest test comes back positive. You're going to have to wait for the results to be sure. I'd also place some serious consideration into your inner circle of friends and whether they are more important than your life. They don't appear to hold the same concern for you that you hold for them. I'll get off my soap box now... no

Hi again, all!

I am about a week away from my EOT + 6 months blood test.  I've been UND so far, but maybe not anymore.  About a month ago, I was stuck in the thumb by a dirty needle belonging to the person who originally infected me, my ex-boyfriend.  I know it can take months for the antibody test to show positive after someone is infected, but what about the viral load?  When I am tested next week, if I have been reinfected (for more than a month), will my viral load test definitely indicate it?  Or do I have to wait months and months to find out for sure?  My NP didn't know the answer, but I would think the VL would go up right away - or maybe not?

Btw, about the needle stick:  I know the ex uses needles. so even though he doesn't leave them out or use them in my presence, I try to be extremely cautious when I'm there, just in case there is a needle or blood somewhere.  But this was just the tip without the rest of the syringe, and I didn't see it when I looked under this shelf thing to reach for something I'd dropped.  When I pulled my hand out from under the shelf, the stupid needle was sticking right out of my thumb!  I forget what he told me about how the needle became detached, but it had happened recently enough that the virus would still be alive.

Anyway, I am not too keen on hanging out with people who are getting high (I've been clean for 3 years and was clean when I got infected almost 2 years ago, but the ex was using at the time & apparently got it from his sister, who was also using).  But my ex is now dating/living with my (previously) very close friend, and I don't want to just end the friendship, and if I want to see my friend I have to go there.

Well, I am bummed, worried, mad, etc.  But perhaps I will get lucky.  I just hope I can find out sooner than later, I don't want this (not knowing) hanging over my head for another 6 months or something!!

Thanks
