gods girl,

look at the bright side of things and make lemonade from lemons. you're young, hepc free, afighter and healing. i believe this tx not only tests relationships but empowers us as well. i left my bf/fiance of 11 years  at my 1/2 way point of tx. the tx was a test to see if he trully loved me. i keep on looking at bill's quote. it makes so much sense. regroup and become the person you were w/out him if you can't resolve issues.

be well and can't wait to hear your 3 month eot results.

Really sorry for your problems, they can happen to the best of use. For what it's worth here's my thoughts and experience on addictions and the use of Anti depressants. If your doctor suggests trying anti depressants after having done a depression evaluation, I would follow his directions with few hesatations. It may take you a few try's to get the right one at the right dose. many of us here know that and have a much more balanced life.

As for Addictions; Opiates, crystal meth, cocaine and a few others like alcohol can steal your soul and are truly addictive to the point that the withdrawals can be catastrophic and you will always be a addict to them for the rest of your life, whether you do or don't do them ever again. Tobacco products are said to be the very worst addiction to escape from and we all know how deadly  over time this drug it can be as it takes such a long time to show it's horrible effects on our health.

If for some reason you have to or wish to stop taking anti depressants there are some minor withdrawal symptoms that take a short time to resolve from them. Again follow your doctors advice with dose reductions and you should have very little problems stopping the use of them

That's my two cents with worth.

I have gone through some what the same, not legal separated and much I had to change about me for me, effects of treatment do wear off and I am 6 weeks post treatment and feeling better but not up to snuff yet, I know you are having a rough go but what I have learned from the forum is that we are not alone and these treatments are rough on marriages, a friend told me to focus on what I have to do for me and let go and let God, look within and recognize we were very ill and this treatment saved our lives, we are not bad people and many other types of treatments for other illness do the same, If you loved something set it free, if it was ment to be it will come back if not then it never was, the only work needed is to grow back to your old self and that takes time

Just wanted to check in as I have not been on in awhile. I am starting to feel somewhat back to normal. My thyroid damage is permanent and I am 2 weeks on thyroid meds and feel much better. Unfortunately all this has really taken a toll on my marriage, my husband and I have officially separated. I am currently in Seattle Wa. with our daughter. We will see what happens. Seems like treatment changed my personality. I seem to have no tolerance anymore. My Dr. has put me on anxiety meds. but I don't like to take them. I am scared of addiction.

In two weeks I'll do my 90 day post VL. I'll keep you all posted. Prayers are appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi Jeri, good to hear from you again.  So sorry to hear about your marriage separation and also your continuing thyroid problems, seems like your life post treatment has been pretty rough so far.  These drugs have a huge impact on us, physically and mentally, and that can put a massive strain on family and social relationships.  It`s still not that long since your tx ended, so please don`t imagine that your personality has changed for ever, it just takes some people longer than others to make a complete recovery, sometimes it will take 6 months or more, a year even, so there`s good reason to be optimistic that things will improve in time.

Good to hear that the thyroid medications have kicked in already and are making you feel better, that`s great.  Difficult to know what to say about the anti-depressants, sometimes they can very helpful in getting through a bad patch although they can be fairly hard to come off again.  i guess you have to weigh up the pros and cons really, and maybe it would be worth giving them a go.

Sending all very best wishes to you and hope that you and your husband will be able to work things out.  Best of luck with your vl result when it comes through, keep us posted.  Take care. smile
