My husband had genotype 1a, 46yo, started triple therapy (peg/rib/vic) 23rd July 2012, VL prior to treatment 14 million, UNDET 12, 24 weeks, EOT 24th June 2013, EOT +1.5 weeks UNDET, EOT +12 weeks & EOT +27 weeks UNDET; SVR January 2014

Geno 1b, IL28B CT,  x3 prior relapser,  ex-cirrhotic, 75 yo, did 48 weeks with Victrelis/Peg./Riba.  VL 1.28m at start, UNDET. at 8 ,12 ,16 ,24 ,30  and 48 weeks.  EOT 15 Feb 2013 , UNDET. at EOT + 28 weeks. SVR!  Still Undet. at EOT +5 years

Hello JA, welcome to the forum! I'm so sorry to hear about your pelvic fractures and pray that you've mended well. I can't imagine what the pain must've been like. I'm glad there wasn't a baby attached to that box of wipes! Lord knows what would've happened then! I have never had problems like yours but have had ongoing aches and pains in my joints and long bones since taking Interferon in 96. What this round of treatment provides, in addition to SVR hopefully, remains to be determined. I'm thankful that you were able to clear the virus years ago and odds are you will continue to stay that way. As Malcolm said, I see you're in the States now, welcome. I would love to see your previous land of Ireland, what a beautiful country! I'm glad you've joined our group!

Hi Irish Lass,

Welcome. I see you've crossed the pond to the USA. You're lucky to have had Genotype 2- it's easiest to treat, and usually runs a fairly benign course. You must have had treatment in about 2003-4 as Peginterferon was only available after 2002.  I remember being asked whether I wanted to try it back then- foolishly I said 'no thanks, I'm going to retire and go sailing'.  I had relapsed after 48 weeks of the old interferon, and 2 lots of Interferon and Riba.

Sorry to hear you've got osteoporosis. It's probably not related to HepC or the Interferon but who knows. There are some good treatment options now, so I hope you get it treated. Best of luck. Cheers.

JA,

Wow, an amazing story.  I can't begin to answer your questions, but there are some people here who I bet can.  Or at least can point you in the right direction.  Welcome and good luck in your search and possible remediation of your bone condition.

Hi All,

Just an intro from my biography....contracted HCV in Feb 91 (from anti-D, I'm Rhesus Negative), told in UK in 95 (it was non-A/non-B then.)

Moved to Ireland in 97, treated by Prof. Hegarty at St.Vincent's hospital Dublin.  Was one of the first people in Europe to use Ribavirin/Pegylated Interferon Combination Therapy (genotype 2, minimal scarring, no cirrhosis) was cleared after 1 month of treatment, but protocol then was 12 months. Did the full year. PCR still clear, however over the past few years bone  pain / issues happening.  Then on 01 Nov. 2013, I fractured my pelvis (upper & lower) by just turning to pick up a box of baby wipes at the store....lots of MRI, basically, I have the bones "of  an anorexic 90 yr old).  I've been trying to see if others have complained  of joint / bone issues, even this long  after treatment (10 yrs  clear in 2014).  Hence my joining this forum
