This newest action is quite baffing to me, its just feeds the suspicion that its only cost them less that a couple hundred $ for a 12 week course. I think the gesture to the Egyptians is quite generous but the like Tig said it won't set well with congress in additional to that Gilead puts in jeopardy their application for 6 months priority review that would be granted on or about April 10 for Sofosbuvir & Ledipsavir. Either Gilead has some grand crazy plan or they really making some really bad decisions in upper management.

From nearly ever source, media, political, medical agree that the highly over pricing from Gilead, J & J is impacting the entire insurance system. Hopefully the other companies like Abbvie, Merck, BMS can learn a lesson from this debacle.    

Sovaldi is a vastly superior drug so somehow this has to be worked out for the betterment of all HCV patients now and in the future.

This revelation won't bode well for Gilead when they stand before a Congressional committee in the coming days. This, along with the incoming patent infringements will be a significant blow to the bean counters at Gilead. Had they not been so greedy in the beginning and priced this fairly, they would probably be much better off financially in the long run. I appreciate what they've been able to accomplish but not the way they released it.

Better safe than sorry. I want to hammer away at this little sucker for as long as I can. Still may get an extra month out of the doc, but kinda doubt it.

To be fair, Egypt were mass infected by a vaccine program and I am happy for these people. Sometimes it can't be all about the money!

(Reuters) - "Gilead Sciences, facing mounting criticism over the high price of its new hepatitis C pill Sovaldi, has offered to supply the medicine to Egypt at a 99 percent discount to the U.S. price.  While the drug will still cost $900 for a 12-week course of treatment, that is a fraction of the $84,000 charged for a course of treatment in the United States."
