Gilead had to do this, with so much pressure and objections building up over the cost of Sovaldi and with the value of their shares dropping, they must realise they need to be more realistic.  We are all so happy and thankful to see this wonderful drug being used at last but the price has to be within reach.

Thanks for posting this, Wayne.

How many of these new drugs would be in development if big pharma knew they couldn't demand huge price premiums. When Gillead has some real competition pricing will be more realistic .

I am thankful for their greed

Cohort 2 in Idenix helix-2 clinical  trial, undetectable from week 2,  with 10days to go.....

Looks like poor ol' Gilead is really hurting! Already suffering a 5% drop in prescription sales in the last week, awwww. But read the expected 2014 sales indicators, lol! That's factored after all the discounts... Geez louise, must be tough to be Gilead no    Tig

"ISI Group analyst Mark Schoenebaum noted on Friday data showing that new prescriptions of Sovaldi had dropped 5 percent in the past week. He estimated that Gilead's 2014 U.S. sales of Sovaldi, which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration late last year, will total as much as $9 billion even if it sees no new prescription growth."

That's both both? That's only going to to be $21,000 right? I like the sounds of that!

Wow... That's crazy expensive. Drug companies are criminals. They know we need it. I hope public and insurance company pressure continues to help reduce these prices.

Hey Wayne

Thanks for the link

Read the article and sounds like this will be the next wave of action from the insurance companies. Once that happens prescriptions should fill a lot faster.
