Thanks Matt, I appreciate the response. I thought maybe there were some statistics out, but it appears that this treatment is just too new. I wont see my doctor until a few weeks from now, maybe he will have some information. My chances of exposing myself to this virus again are 0. I know, never say never, but I am pretty confident with all of the testing on blood these days I am pretty safe. That is if I ever need a blood transfusion. 

Isis, I get what you are saying. At this point, I am just concerned with getting to the 12 week mark und. I never thought I would get this far so I am pretty excited about it. I by no means plan on not getting checked yearly if I make it. I have read on other forums where people have relapsed after being und at 4 weeks eot, so I am well aware that it can happen. I have also read where people have had the virus and were cleared for a long time, then it showed up again. Obviously we don't know their circumstances, so we can only assume that it did just re appear. Either way, if I make it through this and get to SVR I will forever get checked once a year.

"In a follow up analysis, the researchers evaluated HCV RNA sequences in serum and liver tissue from 103 patients who achieved SVR after receiving interferon-based therapy between 1985 and 2005. Three of the patients had a late relapse, testing positive for HCV RNA at 8 months, 75 months and 78 months, after persistently testing negative previously."  

It's a long shot but late relapses can happen that aren't due to reinfection.  Not the happiest thought, but a good reason to test once in a while, post SVR.  Especially since retreatment will only get easier with time.

Hey Caryn

The chances of relapse goes down every week past 4 weeks EOT , the percentage that relapse at four weeks is higher that 8 weeks EOT and your percentage of relape goes down every week from that point onward. When you reach 12 weeks (great), 6 months (fantastic) and finally 1 year UND you can totally feel cured, unless you re-expose yourself to the virus again. Percentages can be misleading it changes with changes in treatment so we will be able to factor likely sometime in the future years.

Yes, the odds for SVR12 significantly improve once you pass the 4 week mark.  I don't know the statistical data on it, however.  The all oral combos haven't been around long enough to have meaningful long term statistics.

If I am und at 12 weeks post, I'll be pretty confident about SVR, however, I won't be divorcing my hepatologist just yet. 

I just wondered if anyone knew if the chances of relapse got better after 4 weeks EOT und.

In June I went in for my 12 wk EOT results and my doctor also told me they say the 12 wk results are it and 24 wk tests are not needed.  she said she had just received that information. (Not sure from who or where).  I am requesting a 24 wk test because I have doubts.

55 yo female.  Diagnosed 9/2011 Geno 3A.  Treatment delayed because of 9 Month antibiotic tx because of TB Positive test. Began tx 9/20/2013 Interf/Riba 24 wks.  Week 4, 8 undet. 1 year.......UNDETECTED!

On what are you basing this statistic, Tig?  Relapse is probably >1% even at 12 weeks EOT so it couldn't be 1% at 4 weeks EOT.    

Not to mention there have been long term studies that have shown that relapse can occur years after EOT; one that comes to mind occurred at 78 months.

4 weeks EOT UND is a good sign but when did 4 weeks become the new SVR?

Caryn, if you're undetectable at EOT +4, your rate of relapse is less than 1%. The more time spent UND following your EOT date, the lower those odds get. Maintaining a positive attitude, treating yourself right, along with healthy diet will add to a bright and hep C free life, good luck!

it seems the sovaldi relapse happen 3/4 weeks after final dose. If your still und and it has been 3 to 4 week when you test ,your good!

  HCV Genotype 3a , now Psot-Tx was on S/riba. First VL was 5.8 mil on 7-5-13 then "und" at 3.8 weeks. 06/13/14 still und. off meds 3 days back on 7/29 Last pill 08/10/14 SVR+4

4 week post EOT labs show undetectable!! Does anyone know what my chances of relapse are? I'm positive about the outcome, but won't be satisfied until the 12 week test.
