Damn this process of kicking the dragon's ass wreaks havoc on our emotions.  I know exactly how you are feeling, JLynch.  You did the best you could.

In a perfect world your doctor would have advised you exactly how Malcolm and Matt advised you before you started this tx.  In a perfect world you would have listened.  :)   We have to be proactive, learn as much as we can, and make the best choices we can about when to tx and what to tx with.  And there will still be a certain amount of just plain old luck involved (or fate, or God's will, or whatever you want to call it).

For most people this run with with the dragon is a marathon not a sprint, but you will get to the finish line, and you will be fine.

You did the best you could.

I was told of the standard as well  ... but i am being told to wait for the much anticipated and heavily hyped sovaldi, ledispivir ,with or without Ribavarin

I dont know too much about Ribavarin but from what i gather it deffinetly is a good thing even though it makes you feel like crap ... ive never taken any treatments but i feel

I should experience a little symptom hell that so many did on interferon and riba i will openly request Riba to go along with the DAA plus i think it ups the odds of SVR...

Also be on the look out for Abbvie 3D combo circa late 12 early 2015 both the S/L and 3D have SVR rates in the 90 percentile like 92-98 percent so they are very potent ...

Or as i like to say they are DRAGON ass kickers ...

dare i say TIME is on our side on this 1, the future is bright ...  whether you did the right or wrong treatment idk i would say no because they say sovaldi can be used even if it didnt work the first time..... re admissable i hear...... I am in no ways a super genus but I know a little of what is goin on ... you can always researcch what I said with the almighty google....

have a good monday Lynch

The doctor told me the standard was 12 weeks of interferon/rib/solvaldi????

Treatment recommendations for previous non-responders

Recommendations for re-treating people who did not respond to prior interferon-based therapy include:

  • For re-treatment of people with HCV genotype 1, the panel recommends sofosbuvir plus simeprevir, with or without weight-based ribavirin, for 12 weeks. Alternative regimens combine sofosbuvir or simeprevir with pegylated interferon and ribavirin for 24 to 48 weeks.
  • The panel recommends sofosbuvir plus weight-based ribavirin for 12 or 24 weeks for re-treatment of prior non-responders with genotype 2 or 3, respectively. Again, alternative regimens include pegylated interferon and ribavirin.
  • The recommended second-line treatment for HCV genotypes 4, 5, and 6 is sofosbuvir plus weight-based ribavirin and pegylated interferon for 12 weeks, with an alternative of 24 weeks of sofosbuvir plus ribavirin alone for those who cannot take interferon.
