Dog Piper how awful you need a new heart too, is this a side effect of a failing liver? I wish you well in you treatment & fight to live.

Hi Jessica,

I think you will continue to have negligible sx from the S/O combo. In my case, perhaps a touch of insomnia was all. Take the Olysio with food and just remember to have a routine time for taking the meds and you will be fine.

Good luck and post your questions and observations as you continue in tx.

Hi Jessica,

Here's the list of several excellent assistance programs put together here on the forum:

My GI doctor got the applications for me I still have the numbers for each place. I suppose it is public knowledge (or should be) so I will put them here...For the Johnson and Johnson patient assistance program the number is 800.652.6227 and for Gilead it is called the support path program and their number is 855.769.7284 hope this helps. Still no other side effects and glad I live alone too.biggrin

Oh, I am. I'm aware that the Riba is just having a ball trashing my blood and I'm in the process of making some major life changes in order to prepare for a worse case scenario with this issue later in Tx.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this Huey! smile

Hi Jessica and welcome to the forum.

The Sovaldi / Olysio combo historically (so far) has very minimal side effects as compared to older treatment options, so hopefully limited side effects will continue for you. It sounds like you may have some other obstacles in your future that will provide enough issues to keep you occupied anyway, so a hopefully smooth, limited side effect Hep C treatment will certainly be a blessing for now.

I too am curious as to how you worked around Medicare / Medicaid in order to get coverage for Sovaldi/Olysio. I am also covered by Medicare / Medicaid in Mississippi and was denied coverage for Sovaldi / Olysio 12 week regimen. So my Dr was forced to start me on FDA approved Sovaldi / Ribavirin 24 weeks.

Don't feel alone... I've been irritated for the past 4 days and I know it's all me. For this week, it's a blessing that I live alone.

I'm very happy for you and wish you the best of luck on your tx.

I'm wondering how it is that Gilead and Johnson & Johnson are paying when, according to their eligibility guidelines, people who are on Medicaid are specifically excluded from their payment assistance programs?

Hi I am new here but I have just started the sovaldi/olysio combo. 4 days in and no side effects. When I was diagnosed they told me my viral count was low and there was only a 50/50 chance of cure so wait. Since then  I have been diagnosed with Congestive heart failure and at 48 need a heart transplant. Well you can't get a transplant if you have hep c. Lucky for me they have come out with this new treatment and the makers of the two drugs, Giliad and Johnson and Johnson, are footing the bill. Medicaid would not touch the cost with a ten foot pole. With my condition I couldn't even take the old meds.

So the point I am getting to is after 4 days and even with all the other meds I take I still don't have any side effects. I am a little irritable today, but hell that could just be me lol.

wink
