We have been discussing it here for months too.   It always astonishes me that people don't understand anything about the country in which they live. Most Americans are not interested unless it effects them personally and when it does they are shocked to learn that they can't get what they want when they want it.

Sorry, I am just finding some of the reactions to this situation disheartening and even a bit disgusting at times.

I agree that many Americans have a callous indifference and lazy ignorance for matters beyond their front door, certainly those not effected by the situation we have with HCV medication costs and allocation.

Next Tuesday will more than likely confirm that a majority of American citizens eligible to vote don't even bother to make the effort, even though who your elected officials are effects everyone personally. These are the elected officials we entrust with oversight of the agencies responsible for regulating health care issues, such as the one created by PBMs and insurance companies that could jeopardize the health of tens of thousands.

On the other hand, it is important that we keep up with a nurse in Maine who may create a Ebola pandemic when she gets run over by the media parade following. Oh, we can't forget the daily events in the Kardashian family. Is Bruce really going through a transgender crisis?cynic.gif

As usual Isiscat, my disgust leads directly to cynicism.

Precisely. They have been positioning themselves for months to do just this.

I hope those of you who are dead set on Harvoni get it before AbbVie becomes an option, but if not, this AbbVie combo (in my experience so far) hasn't been bad at all. I am glad that AbbVie, and hopefully other companies soon, are giving them some real competition. Otherwise Gilead certainly has us all over the proverbial barrel, and we all know what happens once that occurs.

The CEO of PBM Express Scripts has been very outspoken about Gilead's pricing.  In the news (and on his blog) he is saying that Express Scripts may drop Harvoni from its formulary once Abbvie is approved assuming Abbvie is more reasonably priced.

It appears the Insurance Cos and PBMs are sending a message to Gilead and patients are caught in the cross-fire.  Here is a recent article:
