I wouldn't be too alarmed to see that number fluctuate.  Mine went from 1,151,923 on 9/25/14 to 1,906,894 on 10/10/14.  Although the news you have HCV is never good, we are so lucky to be getting diagnosed at a time when Interferon-free treatments are spreading like wildfire!  I thank God for that.

     Thank you Isiscat and Cinnamon Girl for responding.  I was so balled up yesterday, trying to decipher 8 pages of bloodwork results that i  missed the part that reads "HCV RNA detected".  Thank you both for NOT making me feel silly for missing the obvious.  I have been suffering the "muddled thought processes"  symptom about once a week for over a year now, and it is nice to know  i can ask questions on days that i am overwhelmed.

Hello Rose, welcome to the forum!  smile

Your result shows that you do have an active Hep C infection and Isiscat is correct about your viral load number, which falls into the low to medium range.  The number underneath, the `log` equivalent, is just another way of expressing it.

In due course you`ll know more about it, for example which genotype you have and some information about your liver enzymes and other blood levels, and then you`ll be able to discuss with your doctor the way forward and which would be the best treatment options suitable for you. 

If you`d like more information about Hep C there are some useful posts at the top of this section, `sticky` posts, which you could read, or feel free to ask any more questions.  We also have a `search` box at the top of every forum page.

Angel...In reply to your question, viral load in itself isn`t a good indicator of liver damage and varies anyway from time to time.

I wonder if viral load really has any significance? I mean is it a big deal if you have a high load, after all, you still have the virus. Does your liver suffer more if the load is high?

It means your HCV viral load is > 1.3 million (1388971).

     Can someone please tell me what this may mean?  I am blearey eyed from trying to decipher it with the help of the great google and my follow up isnt until the 18th..   Here is exactly how it reads:
