Hi 1rmf,

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad you're here and figured out the inner workings of the process! It can be confusing at first. The test results you present indicate a negative HCV RNA viral count. The <15 is the lower level of quantification or the lowest level they test down to, which in this case is 15. The test didn't detect any virus particulate down to that level, and indicates a negative result. Were there any virus below 15 it would say <15 Detected. Is it possible that your first doctor tested you for Hep C antibodies? If you were ever exposed to the virus and your own immune system was able to fight it off, that test will come back positive. That's when they send you for the viral load test. If it comes back undetected, then your immune system has beaten the virus off itself. Do you have any other lab tests that you can share with us?

I'm a 61-year-old male who, two weeks ago, was diagnosed HepC positive/chronic (whatever that means). Never been diagnosed "positive" before so never treated. Then, yesterday I was told my viral load was <15/undetectable. A CT Scan of my liver showed no damage, blood test shows liver functioning well.

I am confused, going to specialist in 10 days.

Anyone have any experience/thoughts on this?

Much appreciation in advance.
