Effects of alchogol after sovaldi/ ribo pack treatment

Hello Olga

Welcome to the forum, you have found a good place for accurate info on HCV.

Congrats on completing your Sovaldi 24 weeks. Have you received your EOT (end of treatment) week four viral load lab result yet?

It a well established that you should avoid all alcohol for quite a long time after treatment because its weakens your defenses against any left over HCV that might reside in your body.

Hi Olga,

From your treatment I would guess you are Genotype 3.

You won't know whether you have achieved SVR for another 8 weeks. Best of luck.

Everyone can do what they like, but I would not be celebrating with alcohol. The effect of alcohol is the same after treatment as it was before. It damages the liver, and you have just spent ~$180K trying to avoid that.

Cheers (with a soft drink!).

Hello! I finished treatment 1 month ago and would like to know if I can celebrate with a glass of champagne. I was on sovaldi/ribo pack for 24 weeks. What is the effect of alcohol after treatment? Thank you.
