Hello Bob

Welcome to the forum from me as well. Your Geno type being A1b you have a excellent odds of achieving SVR. The 12 week trial had great result for A1b's so find a seat on the Harvoni treatment train and enjoy the ride.

Thanks for your responses. To answer the questions, I am on a 12 week course and don't know my inflammation value. Would that have been part of the Fibrospect? Day 1 has been uneventful, thankful for that. As treatment progresses, don't know how I'll measure muscle and joint pain as I can't remember the days I didn't have those pains. No headaches, appetites the same, anything else i should be looking for?

Hi and welcome, Bob.

You're lucky to be on the best treatment available, and should do well. We'd appreciate a progress report as Harvoni is still fairly new. Cheers.

Hi Bob,

Welcome to the forum, glad you've joined the group! To address your statement about how they determine your genotype, it's part of the RNA PCR blood work done when determining your viral load. In your case you have a high viral load of 11 million, but that doesn't  impact the likelihood of treatment success. Actually the viral count fluctuates daily and is affected by the action your own immune system has on the virus. It can be higher or lower from day to day. Treatment success is determined by one thing, a negative viral count at the end of treatment and thereafter. Your fibrosis level of F0 is great! That indicates no fibrosis at all. Do you know what your inflammation score is? That is prefaced with an A 0-4. The Fibrospect II test has room for improvement IMO and shows some irregularities at both ends of the scale. I would trust your biopsy score above it, but that's me.

You have some excellent insurance and without a doubt, you're on one of the best protocols on the market. You should do very well on treatment! That's what it's all about, right? Good luck and please keep us informed on your progress. Your chance for success has never been better!

Tig

PS: Congratulations on your military retirement! Thank you for your service, I appreciate your commitment to the nation...

Hi all,

I was diagnosed with Hep-C in Dec of 2008 but am pretty sure i contracted it back in the 80's while in the Air Force.  I am Genotype 1b, although I have no idea how that is determined. My viral load is 11,000,000 ml, Biopsy results indicate Stage F0, no fibrosis, however Fibrospect II results scored me with an index of 66 which equates to F2-F4. With both results in hand, along with a Liver ultrasound my doctor pronounced me at Stage F0. Since that diagnosis I delayed treatment until recently, not that anything has changed in my health, but that treatment has become less intrusive.  I am seeing a new doctor now, and the process of getting approved for 1st Sovaldi, then Harvoni treatment has been discouraging, but I have found that was more an issue of my Doctor's assistant not following the correct process rather then my insurance not wanting to provide coverage.  By the way, I am retired Military, on Tricare Prime, which has an outstanding Pharmaceutical program. I am treatment naive, have been approved for both Sovaldi and Harvoni and, of course have opted for the Harvoni option, for which I will start treatment today.  Look forward to sharing this adventure with you all and hopeful of success.
