Thanks so much for the nice welcome. I don't currently know any updated labs. I see my Dr. on 2/23. As far as I know I am an F1. I did hear that at the end of this year a new drug will be coming out to treat most if not all genotypes. I hope this is accurate. I may try to wait. I am on the fence with this one. I honestly believe I will have a lot of problems with ribavirin due to an already sever anxiety disorder. I am also fearful of what the drug can do to the heart and anger issues. So, as much as I want to treat, I may have to wait as long as I can do it that is. I have heard different versions of how long you go between fibrosis levels???? I do not drink nor do any drugs that I am not prescribed. I eat pretty healthy and exercise. I hope that does help the liver. But I see so many people ending up with cirrhosis from this disease and that does concern me of course. Has anyone decided to wait?

Hi Dawn,

I'd like to welcome you to our group! I hope you find everyone as helpful as I have during my time here. There is a wealth of friends willing to share their knowledge and experience with this disease and the available protocols. Be sure you take advantage of the Home page index as well as the search function at the top. If you can't find something, please let us know and we'll help you find it.

Genotype 2 has been one of the easier genotypes to eradicate (SVR). The current meds to fight it are Sovaldi and Ribavirin for 12 weeks. Depending on your liver condition, you can choose to wait or get down to business if you're reaching advanced liver disease and/or cirrhosis. I understand not wanting to take Ribavirin, but i believe the 12 week protocols now will minimize your discomfort from side effects. While it's not the kindest of drugs used to combat this disease, it's not as harsh as it was when Interferon was combined with it. That's my opinion of course! Hopefully we'll see something come along soon, that negates the need for it in current protocols.

Here's some current information on Genotype 2 that you may find interesting and informative:

I wish you all the best and look forward to hearing about your progress! Good luck!

Hi and welcome! You've come to the right place. Lot's of supportive and well informed people here. I don't know much about genotype 2 but someone who does should be along soon.

Take care,

Rudi

Hi,

I am new and waiting on treatment.  I have genotype 2 and hope something in the near future comes out that isn't as harsh as the current treatment (ribavirin).  Nice to meet everyone and I'm also here to learn as much as I can on how to take the best possible care of my health.  I have learned a lot in the past few months thanks to some very kind individuals and hope to learn more!!
