Australia finally catches up

Hey Malcolm

That is great news! Sound like someone stood up said it is very necessary, now the wait is on for all the GT3's to get there due.

The Australian health care system might a little slow (only about 6 months) in approving the Gilead drugs but the benefit to the public in need seems to be much farther ahead of USA.

Bottom line is this will save hundreds of lives and lengthen others that would not be candidates for the old SOC.

I bet the Doctors are happy they can call their patients with such goods news, hopefully your medical bureaucracy won't put patients off that have no cirrhotic conditions.

That`s fantastic news, Malcolm, at last!

Sounds like the government is really pushing hard to get on top of Hep C in Australia, and of course affordable discounts make all the difference.

Thanks for posting this.

At last.

Our PBAC has granted approval for PBS listing of Sovaldi, Harvoni and Daclatasvir. Our Minister of Health has to rubberstamp it, but this means this drugs will now be available for a nominal fee (maybe $20) for all Australians. Health care holders will get it free.

The drugs will be available regardless of fibrosis stage.

Viekira Pak has missed out. Obviously Gilead and BMS have made good, discounted offers.
