Hi William, yes you`re right, daclatasvir isn`t widely available and hasn`t yet been approved by the FDA in America.  That`s why you aren`t seeing posts here from people doing the treatment combo you did.

hi jill.thanks for info.sems this daclatasvir is still not widely used.it works thats the main thing.am still waiting for results from 6month viral test.will be glad to see that they are virus undetected.hope you are keeping well and enjoying the warmer weather even though its been a strange spring warm one day wet and windy the next. the best of health to you jill                                                                                                          williamsmile

Hi William,

England, Scotland and Wales each make their own decisions on which medications they will make available through the NHS, usually on a cost/benefit basis. 

Daclatasvir is available in England but only for people with more advanced liver damage at the moment, through a `compassionate access` programme, which is why you were able to have this treatment.  It`s not yet generally available but hopefully it will be at some point.  We do have one other UK member who has been on treatment with daclatasvir and has successfully cleared the virus this time around, on her third attempt.

Best of luck with your results, do let us know when you hear.  I`m sure you`ll be fine though!

so they have finally recommended daclatasvir for use.up till now i hadnt heard from anyone who had the daclatasvir as part of the combo with sol/riba was given it in september .wonder why just wales?i live in the south of england mind you it wasnt till i collapsed that they too notice. get my blood results wednesday for 6th month post tx readings.have been virus undetected on all tests so far. things are certainly different now.geno type 3 was regarded as being easier the to clear a few yrs back, now it seems that isnt the case now.still great strides have happened in the last 2yrs.amazing!will be interested to see if the daclatasvir gets rid of geno type 3.best of health to you all                                                                            william

All Wales Medicines Strategy Group has recommended Daklinza (daclatasvir) to be used, in combination with other medicinal products, as an option to treat eligible NHS patients with chronic hepatitis C and advanced liver disease.

The All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) has recommended Daklinza (daclatasvir) for the treatment of adult patients with chronic hepatitis C virus infection.  The recommendation is specifically for patients with advanced liver disease, for whom treatment options can be limited.  Daclatasvir is used in combination with other agents to treat adult patients with chronic HCV genotypes 1, 3 and 4 (which include most of the cases seen in Wales).

This decision could enable some of the most `at-risk` patients in Wales with chronic HCV to access a new, first-in-class treatment which has been shown, when used with other agents, to clear the viral infection in most of these patients after 12 or 24 weeks of therapy.
