Hey Jake,

I'm sorry they misdiagnosed your genotype, but it has happened to quite a few over the years. The important thing is knowing they got it right and have you on the right track. Here's some information that I hope will lift your spirits a little. 95+% SVR rates are fairly typical. Keep your chin up! You'll get there, it's going to take a bit longer, but you will succeed!

"Thus, with an all-oral combination of Daclatasvir plus Sofosbuvir, SVR12 rates of >95% were achieved in HCV genotypes 2 and 3. The Sofosbuvir lead-in phase or the addition of RBV did not affect virological response, and the latter increased the frequency of anaemia (which was absent in the RBV-free arms)."

Back in 2004 i was told I had genotype 2a, relatively easy to treat but nonetheless after 2 rounds of copeg treatment naive.  The success rates of this genotype with my currents meds, ribavarin, soldivir, daclatisvir seemed very promising.  My md called today to tell me that the last blood test indicates genotype 3- the problem child of them all if I am reading correctly.  Now the treatment is extended from 16 to 24 weeks.  I can handle the meds, so far I seem to have more energy and no sides at all.  But coming to terms with the cure rate facts of G3 is quite the buzz kill.
