thank all for the encouraging words, glad to know being late one time is not an issue..i certainly will be more aware about time tables from now on! i will ask the doc. about the post treatment protocols and for see no problems w/that. i will keep an eye out for signs of depression though at this point there are none. as you have stated: hydration,rest,and nutrition are the keys. i will keep things posted as i progress... fingers crossed,be well folks.

Hi Jake, good to see your update and it must be very reassuring to know that your lab work is on course.

To reply to your question, yes a 12 wk post end of treatment viral load test is essential!  That is the crucial one which will determine that the treatment has worked.  In other words, if your viral load is still undetectable at that point then you can consider yourself to be as good as `cured` and will have achieved SVR (SVR12).  It`s quite possible that you`ll have another viral load test done at 24 weeks post tx as well, but the 12 week test is the important one nowadays since the advent of the new more powerful DAA drugs.

No need to worry about taking one pill an hour later than schedule, it won`t make any difference at all.

Good news Jake! And that's what we like to hear. Like you, before treatment I was fearful that the meds would give me a hard time but as you can see now, you can do this. It may be good that you were an hour late taking your medicine since you will be inclined to watch for that a little closer in the future. 1 dose an hour late want hurt, but repeating this multiple times may cause a problem. How are you doing with your blood pressure that you were concerned about the last time you posted?

Hang in there. This next 9 weeks will be history before you know it and you'll be dancing around in SVR land. smile

Hi Jake,

Yeah Buddy!!!! Excellent report from you and the doctor. Way to go! Keep up the same routine, it sounds like it's working well for you. Remember to stay hydrated and don't let your guard down regarding the Ribavirin. It can affect your stamina and mood, so just be aware of the possibility. Stay rested, fed and hydrated and you should continue to do well. 

While most of us think a mid treatment and EOT viral load is both important and morale boosting, many providers aren't following that testing protocol anymore. We used that schedule as it was required with the older protocols, but now, most everyone becomes undetected by EOT with these new DAA's. If you ask nice, most docs will do an EOT VL test for you. The tests used to be quite expensive, but have dropped in price lately. So most insurance carriers don't mind it as long as your doc authorizes it.
