Hi Gracie I just wanted to let you know it gets better I had all your post tx sides. After nine months I can say my aches and pains are all but gone feet and hands were bad. I lost a lot of weight before tx and it showed, now I have gained it back and I feel much better. As far as fatigue goes I still have my days I don't want to do anything but my job is somewhat physical. You need to give yourself a good four months and the change will be dramatic. So let yourself rest when you need to and these sides will fade away. A

This may seem trivial but, based on my experience, I suggest at least taking it into consideration.

Although not near as bad as with Sovaldi / Riba last year, I have had some Sx's from Harvoni so far (10 days left out of 24 weeks). As you know there were several things you could do to minimize the effects and I, for one, have taken advantage of them all during this round of treatment and it has paid off. It also shows in my lab results which are excellent for a 55 yo cirrhotic with late stage HIV, extensive osteoarthritis, emphysema, a long history of chronic alcoholism / drug addiction and ~40 years of neglect for my health.

This past 23 weeks I have seen some days that were much worse than others as a result of not sticking to my healthy low sodium / low sugar diet. I know it sounds trivial, but after the few times that I have said "F-it" and treat myself to a bunch of sugary food, then the next few days I pay for it with fatigue, muscle / bone ache and depressed / anxious unmotivated state of mind. Eating liver unhealthy foods is nothing new to me. I ate junk food my entire life until I started trying to beat this Hep C. When I started eating healthy I did not notice much improvement in how I felt because the change was so subtle. But now, after maintaining a healthy diet for an extended time, when I eat junk food the effect is anything but subtle. It usually starts to be noticeable within a few hours. If you are accustom to eating unhealthy on a daily basis, this change never occurs. So you never realize that you are being affected by unhealthy diet.

Harvoni causes Sx issues that will take time to recover from. Your patience with letting the process happen will be your friend if you can accept that it will take time and keep your expectations at bay. You can find contentment in the fact that you completed your treatment with good compliance and that is what was required for a successful outcome. Now it's time to take care of your body, including healthy eating habits, so it can recover quicker and be happy and pain free as you live your life. You got this Gracie! smile

Gracie,
Keep your chin up. Many of us have experienced what you are dealing with.
Try to stay busy as a bee to keep moving forward.
When can you say SVR? 6 months post?
It's all a process, you completed treatment and that's a celebration.
I want to know when you get the good news.

Well it seems there are a few of us out there that are done with harvoni and experiencing some very real side effects. Thought if we compared them, at least we would know we aren't alone.

I completed my treatment 10 days ago. I had pains in hands and feet throughout, and they are still there. I seem to be tired since finishing. More tired than on treatment. Don't want to get up tired. But I can get up, and do, and manage fine. I just don't want to get up.

My sweets addiction has tapered off. Still want them but not as much.

Worst symptom is sudden total sadness thinking it might not have worked.

Best symptom is I mostly feel that it has worked, and sometimes I just smile because I really feel it is.

Confusing times.
