I'm very happy for you Malcolm, altho a lot of what you said is over my head!

I am very interested in your comment about peripheral neuropathy, and as well, Bubble's comment "my Doc says everyone complains about neuropathy."

I have had numbness in my toes and fingertips depending on my activities. Near the end of tx, my feet were numb every time I got out of bed in the morning and also sitting with feet up on the coffee table.  Currently, my toes go numb when I exercise and fingertips go numb when driving the car.  Is it HCV related or the drugs I took? that being riba/inter/boceprevir.

Excellent news...a remarkable reversal. Platelets at 253k are amazing...definitely non-cirrhotic. I'm very happy for you.

That's wonderful news Malcolm, I am very happy for you. It's also very encouraging for those of us with similar issues to see your progress. smile

Warm regards

Ari

ps, if any needs/wants to take Vitamin B12 I have been using sublingual drops for the past year and they work. As I have had a bowel resection it is essential I take Vit B12 and initially I had 3 mthly injections. Not liking B12 spiking and then dropping over time till it was so low I was really tied before getting the next injection and it spiking again I checked out the drops. My Dr keeps up regular blood tests to make sure and so far it's all a-ok

Congrats Malcolm,

That's great news. You have always been here to cheer myself and Tom and now it's our turn to tell you what an inspiration you have been.  We've all been through our rough patches, and happy to hear how well you are doing.  Tom knows the neuropathy oh so well.  He's learned to live with it and will continue too as well as you.  Please continue to inspire us with your progress.

All the best,

Laura and Tom

Hey Mate,

That's fantastic! This has been a great morning for inspiring news. You so deserve all of the improvements you're witnessing. You suffered so much as you pioneered all of the original SOC's. You never gave up and here's an example for all to follow. You never gave up and now it's obvious that you're reaping the rewards for your commitment. We have all learned and benefitted from your journey and knowledge. Thanks and all the best....

That's some very sweet news Malcolm!

You're just getting excellent news on top of more excellent news regarding improvement ... how awesome!

I'm so glad to hear the news ... this will really help others, especially cirrhotics see that there is hope ... concrete evidence that the human body, especially the liver is a very resilient organ.

Great News Malcolm, Thanks for Sharing it!

Enjoy the Great Health,

Dave

Hi all,

Had my bloods drawn yesterday. The email results just arrived.

I must admit that I'm always a tad anxious, even though the risk of relapse is <1%.

As I have my results recorded since 1988, I'm happy to say my ALT (23) and AST(18) are the lowest they have ever been. All is quiet on the liver front.

I'm also happy that my HbA1C is down to 6.5 from 7.1. Going on that, I'm going to say I'm no longer a 'mild diabetic'. This is not due to a rigid low GI diet- I believe the better glucose metabolism is due to eradication of the HCV. It's taken a while and I must admit I'm doing a lot more exercise.

My platelets are up to 253k. I think this reflects the reversal of the portal hypertension and the splenic activity. For any cirrhotics worried about low platelets after SVR, give it time.

The peripheral neuropathy is here to stay. I'm convinced it is HCV related. My last hope was that my Vitamin B12 may be low. It came in at 473, with the lower limit of normal being 100.

Cheers.
