Funny you bring up the gastro aspect of this. My Mom was having issues with a hoarse voice and cough, no sore throat. They started her on a Nexium and she improved dramatically. Your doc may be on to something there. I hope so and am happy to hear that you're already feeling some improvement.

It is surprising how some of the memories diminish from our days of treatment, but then there are others that I'll never forget. Mashed potato flakes will forever be burned into my mind and under my washer/dryer. I can't go shopping without potatoes reminding me of Ribavirin! It's all good though, now anyway, lol!

Stay in touch, it's so nice to hear from you. Take care of yourself Rubye!

Hi Tig,

You look good. Thanks for your response.

Yeah, I think 1 1/2 years may be too long to have developed anything from treatment but it could have started small. :) I didn't think it was related myself until a friend in the medical field suggested it and so I thought I'd check in to see if anyone has developed this kind of stuff. I don't think it is allergies. I've had allergies for years and this is different.

I did talk to my doctor very briefly - she had an emergency and had to go - and she suggested taking Ranitidine twice a day. I quit Omeprazole about six months ago because I was having terrible reflux and when I quit it, my reflux got better actually. Anyway, she suggested trying the Ranitidine twice daily and I have done so over the last three days and my voice is really much better today. I guess I still have gastro stuff related to the cirrhosis.

I prefer to think that the cirrhosis is a thing of the past just like the Hep C but evidently it's not. :) However, I must say I am so much better overall. I had honestly kind of forgotten about treatment until my friend brought it up. Isn't it funny how obsessed we can be about something and then a year it is forgotten? I am so very grateful!!!

Hi Rubye,

Nice to hear from you, but I wish it was under better circumstances. I haven't heard of this being an issue related to treatment either. Sometimes the immune system reacts strangely after treatment, but you have been SVR for quite awhile now and doubt that the treatment drugs would be responsible.

What does your doctor say? Have you had any of the sores in your nose diagnosed? I'd be on your provider to help you get some initial relief and then permanently resolved. Have you tried using a saline spray regularly to try and keep the nasal passages moist? Dryness and allergies can really cause problems like that. The hoarseness in your voice, without a sore throat is difficult to put a finger on.

Get your doctor involved and let us know what you find out. Take care and if I find any information, I'll let you know. Good luck Rubye....

Greetings,

Personally I believe it is a bit too far past EOT to tie these symptoms to treatment. In particular at what is basically the height of allergy season.

If it were me I would get tested for allergies and see if you can get some relief via that route.

Best of Luck to you!

Hi everyone, It has been about a year and a half since I was cured. I treated with Sovaldi and Olysio. I am fairly healthy considering I'll be 70 next month. Except - for wheezing over the past four months or so. Inhalers only make it worse and Cetrizine doesn't help. And, this last month I've lost much of my voice. I can talk but my voice sounds like I have a very bad cold, all creaky and it fades out if I try to talk too much. No sore throat. Someone today mentioned that perhaps it is from the S/O. Also, my right nostril keeps getting light weight sores and scabs. Has anyone else had these symptoms since ending treatment? I haven't been able to read any recent posts or comments because of a new format on my phone. I'll check out posts when I get on my computer. I hope everyone has been well.
