You guys make me laugh and cry all at the same time. And it is what I adore about all of you. I am so glad my train ride was at the time it was with the people I shared it with. There are no coincidences. TYG.

Slept in today as I have a head cold. NOT going to the gym as I need rest. (that is huge for me) and getting a massage then going to watch football all weekend. Syd - my twins moved out in Oct and I had a terrific dinner with them last night and my brother. I have finally settled into my job that started not quite a year ago and am just enjoying my new life.

Tig I am going to visit family next month in Jupiter (FL not the planet) and not sure exactly where you are. Will send PM to see if I will be traveling near you and we can have a coffee together.

I have missed you guys too. Tig with his gorgeous prune bod which I missed while standing on the pier - you tease!!! and Canuck - I love your binoculars! Hello Wendy - how's it all going for you these days? So much must have happened while I was on my TV Series benders. Shadowfax, how are you? It's okay, I'll go back and see if I can spy out a few bits I've missed

Now is this trickling what I think it is Tig? Of course I'm as predictable and unable to resist a tasty naughty thought as I ever was. Are you talking about the trickle down economics I saw on a twitter feed? That made me laugh a lot. Just as well I'm about to drop off this mortal coil I think. Things always change too fast for the elderly - for me it's going from surprising to utterly bizarre. Some of its funny, some of its tragic but all of it is amazing.

And that's it - I'm going to phone up and demand those blood results - haven't confessed this, but with no riba to blame, I think I'm just turning into a stock standard cranky old lady.

Tig, I had another look at that picture - are you sure it's a prune and not Mr Hanky?

ps. the gazebo lights are up but I didn't get to make the twig and fairy light get chandelier for the centre piece. I think you know one of my beautiful dogs is incontinent - she s not in pain and I wont put her down. when my first born turned up he said he would only stay if Pinkie was locked outside. It was unhygienic for the children - one is too young to be mobile and the other one can put on a pair of slippers - but the humans won out over the canine. Which meant she sat on her bed in the gazebo - it sort of turned it into pissy palace so it wasn't used while they were here, and since then I've been ship wrecked on my mattress. But theres still a fair bit of summer to go...

Nothings simple is it??

Syd, That is great news and I am just so happy you are feeling better. Even cure brings us some new challenges at times but I suppose the fact that we are here to talk about it is a good thing.

Congrats on the marriage of your son and everything. Just keep on getting better. We are counting on it.

I miss our period of messed up train car parties, and ice cream orgies, they were clearly a good time. A needed respite for everyone involved. There have been a lot of seats made available on the Harvoni Train. Now all we need are lower ticket prices, so we can more easily fill the train. All aboard!!

Looks like it's going to take awhile to dry out after that long swim around the Horn of Africa.

Ah Syd, THERE you are!!! Finally, the tides tossed up my favourite flotsam and jetsam. Sheesh we been missin ya round here. Pruney Tig just about drowned swimming about in cirlcles looking for you, my eyes are permanantly bugged out scanning the shoreline fer ya. I had no doubt you would sail in to port again, as we, bobbing up and down, in and out of this collective sea of hepc humanity, will always be forevermore connected.

So good to hear all your news and how you is. I fully agree with locking bedroom doors, and what ever else it takes in comfort and self-defense. Hey, you must of joined the same once per week lassitude yoga class I did!

You will never catch up on all the old local gossip around here now, we've gone way beyond tit-bits, sequins, messed up train car parties and so many icecream orgies I've lost count!

Man, this cure thing can be exhausting! And your life events have certainly kept you busy.

So, that was your SVR24 in Dec? Big milestone and big congrats girl! Calls for a pool party maybe, how many people does that gazebo fit anyway, and hurry up with the lights eh, I suspect this may turn into one of those all-nighter celebrations. Gunna have to get a decent bathing suit for this one fer sure. How bout this?

Hi Syd - I know what you mean about the fatigue. I still have a little as well, but sometimes I wonder if it's just getting older. Maybe a combination of both?

Congrats on your new grand child!

Hi Syd. It's good to hear from you and that you continue to recover. Steady as she goes. I'm 1 year from EOT and feeling better every day, still making progress in baby steps. I'm happy for you and your family. Your story is like mine in that I led by example - what not to do. lol Take care of yourself and drop in when you can with more good news. smile

Well, Well, there you are, Syd! I am so happy to hear from you. I tried to get you, ya know? You weren't waiting by the Pier when I swam by and the current drug me back to ol Tooterville here in south Florida! I really missed you and we all missed your colorful commentary. I'm glad you checked in!

It has been quiet around the forum. We've had lots of good news and success here. If quiet is indicative of success and less stressful treatment, I'm all for it. I know the side effects are less, but they're still present and affecting others. It's good to hear they are better and I believe you will continue to improve. That's why we put ourselves through all of this, to celebrate and we're gonna do it! Under the new Gazebo. Did you finish putting up the fairy lights? I'm still waiting for my picture!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your update, Syd. Your family get togethers, weddings, holidays are just a few of the reasons we decided to get healthy. There are so many others and you've got a much better chance to live to a long and dusty age, where you can enjoy many more. The biggest and best reason we have is for ourselves, never forget you! You did it!! smile

Hi All,

firstly just want to say that i am so grateful for all the support, guidance, knowledge and comfort you so generously showered me with during this journey. i feel guilty that I havent continued to return all you have given me to others. I guess, its just part of my emotional recovery and while trying not to deny my position, it also wasn't helping much to keep on obsessing about it.

I hope this summary is of some help to those on the road. i began treatment in december 2015 - three months on sof/dac/ riba and three on just sof/dak. i had genome type one and it was undetectable sometime in february. My bloods were well out of whack, i had ascites and my fibroscan was 47.

The 12 week after treatment test showed that the virus was undetectable. I saw my specialist in december but due to an administrative mistake, she didnt have my blood results. i was very disappointed by this but she did phone the pathology company who were able to tell her that all the bloods ahd returned to within normal range. i know this is great news but was hoping to be able to pore through them, compare and share with you.

i have just made an appointment for the abdominal ultrasound for next week. The last fibroscan was 27 - bad I know, but what an improvement on 47!

The main symptom of extreme fatigue has definitely improved, although its hard to know how much of the continued lack of energy is simply due to old age and how much can still be attributed to a dodgy liver. My other symptom of pain in my legs, back and hands was exacerbated by riba but is slowly beginning to improve. i know i need to get on some fitness regime but a life time of lassitude makes it difficult. i do yoga once a week.

Riba caused hair loss and strange little skin growths. my hair has returned to normal and while I have no more mole/scaley things, the ones i developed ares till there.

The anger, paranoia and depression which began to overwhelm me on riba, has finally gone, but when Tig says it takes up to six months, i agree with him. The leg cramps, bleeding, clay coloured stools have all gone.

Overall I feel incredibly lucky that the new drugs saved my life in the nick of time.

My second son got married in November - i had nothing to organise, or do, but still got very nervous for them. it turned out to be a very special ceremony and after party which went off with no hitches and made me feel very lucky. He has married a lovely girl. All my kids have really decent partners and are happy - maybe they watched and learnt from the debacles i called marriages, but what ever the reason, it makes me very happy to see them all in loving relationships. My oldest son and his family came over for two seeks at Christmas. they have a new baby i hadn't met and a little girl who has changed and grown so much during the year, i felt very lucky about that too. However Christmas, New year and family dynamics were way more than i could take in my stride. Since the dust has settled, i have spend a lot of time binging on tv series. (with my bedroom door firmly closed.)
