Hi Sacha,  Yes, I missed your post as well, although it seems I miss about half of everything these days so it's not too surprising, LOL.
     I'm not familiar with Canada's laws, but in America what questions can and can't be asked on both medical forms and in person are legally regulated.  If they can ask about a specific condition, then then the lawyers have decided that they can defend that question in court and it's vital to doing the job.
Questions such as, "Do you know of a condition that may affect your perfomance on this job?" are fishing expeditions and you are not required to volunteer info.  Although I'm not familiar with the specifics of the job your applying for, I doubt Hep C would be a factor. 
The biggest caveat to this is the health care insurance system outside of the job itself.  They often bend the rules a bit to fit their actuarial tables, but that was early on in the HIV crises and so far I haven't seen them abusing the process looking for Hep C.

Hi Sasha and a warm welcome to the forum.  Sorry that you have not received a reply before now. 

Sorry also to hear that treatment didn't work for you.  There are new ones on the horizon and i hope that one is more suitable for you.  With regards to your question, i would hope that your hcv status would not get in the way of your application.  You could possibly make enquiries anonymously.

I have been diagnosed with HCV for 5 years, I had treatment 3 years ago and was a non responder to Type 1.  I am now looking for work and would like to work for the railroad, the position is a critical safety position and after the interview the medical will be the last step before an offer.  Does anyone know if I have an opportunity to get hired with HVC, or will that affect the decision regarding an offer.
