I'm sorry to hear his treatment failed. We've had a few people experience the same disappointment recently, but like your husband they're accepting of that fact and getting prepared for the new treatments. Sounds like he's doing his best to keep occupied and stay positive. Give him our best and I hope you keep us updated on his condition and yours. He's very fortunate to have you on his side!

Just popped in and saw this.

I am sending you positive energy.

My husband is just now starting to shake off a failed treatment. He is back to running --his form off meditation and fishing.

This is a mental game also take the love and support given to you. We find it all over when looking especially here.

Steve I ain't goin hold back I am crying like a baby, this really stinks.  I am in 4 weeks in and having a hell of time. My heart goes out to you and your wife. I have learned that I enjoy the little things.  You are a smart and strong person and I pray that something will break in the science world to help all those who have been handed this news. You are in our prayers and may your days be brighter than before.  The glass is half full.     All the best to you and your wife peace and love MJ

Keep your head up Steve.  You may have lost this battle but you are going to win the war against this worm.  Remember how bad you felt when Jim who started with you had the same experience?  Now he's gone on to lead the way in what will hopefully be the answer for the non-responders.  Take some time, if need be, to bottom out in some self pity, so you can rise again stronger and ready to fight on.  You still have your friends, family, and most of your health.  You are loved and feel love which is what living is all about.

As my buddy Henry Davy Thoreau sayz:  Do not go gentle into that good night,,,

Steve and Eileen,

I'm am very upset to hear this. You both put your heart and soul into this tx and did everything possible for it to be successful. Steve, you hung tough for 48 weeks, no matter what. You are one tough person. I know you both must feel exhausted and very dissapointed but please remember that you did everything humanly possible to make this work.

There must be another plan waiting down the road. I believe this for all of us. Please get some rest and recover some. You deserve it. Both of you. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers every day. I will stay in touch. We are not done. God bless you both.

Jim

Heartbreaking... My doctor told me the same after my first failed treatment. He said by doing treatment I added myself an extra 10 years, because the liver had a chance to recover and not being damaged by the virus for 11 months. As you know, liver is the only organ that can regenerate itself. However, with cirrhosis, the complete regeneration is impossible due to the formed scar tissue, yet the liver got a break from being bombarded by the virus and most likely regenerated 20% or so with new liver cells.

Steve, what a kick in the guts! I'm very sorry to hear your news. As cirrhotics our chances of SVR are reduced but it must be a big shock after 48 weeks of trying. Take a break and get advice about the next step. Thinking of you both-

Sorry to hear the bad news Steve.  Stay positive.  You gave your liver a great break from the virus.  Now you just need to sit tight a little while longer until the "easy" drugs get FDA approval.

All the Best,  Dave

The viral load was significantly reduced (below decectable) for the duration of tx which is to say at least they were not replicating within the livercells for a period. "a rest from the attack" so to speak.

Sorry to hear the news Steve, going on is all one can do. Best of luck for the future X

Margo- we were responding at the same time, sorry for the repeat.

I`m really sorry to hear this, what a shock. cry The two of you must be reeling after going through such a long stretch on tx and I expect it will take a while for this to sink in, but it`s really good to hear that Steve is thinking positive about this.  All is not lost though and at least his liver will have had a chance to start healing all the time he was Und.  He`s been a real trooper for the last 48 wks, you both have, please send him love and all best wishes for the future...his day will come, I`m sure.

Take good care of each other, and please do keep in touch...hugs to you both, Jill xxx

Wow, what a shock. But what we know about Hep-C and how to treat it is still in the beginning stages. Going on is what it is all about. As a past non-responder I know my chances of a 100% outcome is low. Fortunately you and Steve have figured out that there is much more in life beyond this. While what happened frightens me, I hope you know that your not alone.

I wonder if it would make any sense to get some grief therapy to deal with the brick wall you both just ran into?

Vern
