Follow up.

doc put me on Penicillan and I finally am feeling better.  I must have had infection all this time which was preventing me from improving like I'd heard other people doing.  I ran out of insurance so i decided to just to wait as long as i could and pay cash to see if treatment had worked for hcv.  turned out... We're so succeptable to infection (I had 3 bladder infections during treatment).  Maybe this'll help someone else.

ps. Just a comment.  It's not right that uninsured don't have chance at health in usa.

Hi Chatterbox,

Your high Strptolysin O titre is not a big deal. It means you have had a Streptococcal infection recently- maybe a sore throat. However it should be repeated in a few weeks to make sure it's falling. Sometimes it can be more serious, as in rheumatic fever or glomerulonephritis (kidney infection). In any case, follow your doctor's advice.

By Sed high, I presume you mean a high Sedimentation Rate. Normal range is 0-20, but it can be raised in any sort of infection or disease, so is very non-specific. Again be guided by your doctor.

Vitamin C may help if you are deficient- a blood test would confirm that. It won't do any harm but probably won't help much. Cheers.

Thanks for responding. I will increase my Vit C intake. That's the funny thing.  I eat healthier the past 7 months than I have in years.  Mostly plant based.  I've lost 40 lbs not from the treatment but from the commitment to health after all the pills and shots.  I take vitamins and suppliments - something I can thank all the pill taking during treatment for.  Got me in a good habit of taking pills..now theyre not chemicals.  Yogo here and there.  Still drinking lots of water albiet not like I was during treatment.  That's what is SO frustrating!  I am so unable to excersize.  i have had 4 days where I was unable to even walk on three separate occassions. I am trying SO hard to be healthy.  Maybe Penicillan will help.  But why did I catch some bug and have I had it since i was on treatment?  Am I still suseptable to infection even though I'm not anemic?  Questions, Questions.  I need to be able to put full days in so I can make some money!

Hey Chatterbox

First congrats on your 5 months SVR, that's important to your mind set.

I don't know how healthy of a diet you are on, but rebuilding your body with proper nutrition and consistent exercise is very important after any long term treatment. Again I'm not saying you are not, just making guess suggestions.

I would high dose on vitamin C to fight your infection for several weeks and research all I could about your situation. Just my thoughts I'm not an expert.

Hopefully our member Malcolm will respond he will have some better insight than I

All the best

Matt

Hi all.  Its been 5 and a half months since completing triple Ribo, Victrelis, Peg Interferon. Good news - non detectable

Bad news -Still fatigued and joints (shoulder, hip, feet, Spine) painful and I am STIFF. Primary care physician had me take arthritis/auto-immune test as well as Sed test on Friday.  Got a call today telling me doc was calling in Penicillan because my Streptolycin O level was at 445.  Top of range is 145.

I was told this indicated bacterial infection.

Sed test was high out of range too but we'll deal with that when I see him middle May.

Anyone else???  Gave up on Hep doctor after he gave up on me when my insurance ran out after I finished treatment and his PA said my poor poor health had nothing to do with treatment and that I should be feeling better and better each day. This was in November.

AT LEAST BLOOD TESTS TELL ME I'M NOT CRAZY.

Who can afford $1,100/mo cobra?
