I didn't always make the times. Sometimes I forgot and took it as soon as I could. Sometimes when working it might have been closer to 6 hours for my second dose because that's when I was able to eat..and the earlier one was as close to being after I was able to get up get ready for work and eat. I still got a eRVR (Extended rapid viral response) which is what they consider UD at 4 & 12 weeks...new term for PTI's. (DAA's)

Hard juggling all the pills around. I took my Riba later about lunch cause between it and the Invcivek first thing in the morning I was lucky to know whether I was coming or going. Taking it at lunch with some vitamins for some reason would give me that burst to finish my day even though I was taking my Incivek close to the same time.

 

Yes I doctor the doctor lol. I am not putting just anything in my system until I have learned the risk and decided for myself. I'm the one that has to take the risk not him.

Hi Dillo, well the `twice daily` dosing regime is based on the `Optimize` study which was published late last year...

You`re definitely doing the right thing staying on top of your medications, it pays to be pro-active where our health is concerned!

That's different. They were telling me to make sure I tool mine within 9 hours because it doesn't stay in your system that long. Of course they would give you the ok for 4 more hours if you missed it.

I googled up all the meds I was told about on my treatment before tx like I have with just about every medicine a Doctor has asked me take. Found this US site today which I didn't see back then. It also has simular information to Ribavirin on the 2 forms of birth control during and up to 6months after.

I have found here in the US it's good to doctor yourself along with the doctor. You don't always get all the info you need from a busy doctor ...or a  NP. Example I had to remind my heart doctor who told me "you'll be on these for the rest of your life" that I needed a blood test 30 days after he put me on statins. He promptly took me off of them after the blood test. His NP told me I could take Priosec or Nexium for my heartburn. I said I think I read where that conflicts with the Plavix you have me on. She didn't think so. Sure enough when I asked the Doctor he said no...and there was another article about the same thing and more recent test.

I try to trust My Doctors...but I keep an eye on the meds and treatments myself.

Hi Jill,

Yes, that's the way I've been using it. 3 in the a.m. and 3 in the pm.. No middle of the day fat meal is a definite plus - I do wonder if it exacerbates the sx getting 2 big doses daily, instead of 3. biggrin

INCIVOŽ (telaprevir) Receives European Commission Approval for Twice Daily Dosing for Treatment of Genotype-1 Chronic Hepatitis C Virus (HCV)

-INCIVOŽ triple therapy now offers a twice daily HCV treatment regimen which should improve patient adherence -

Janssen Infectious Diseases-Diagnostics BVBA (Janssen) announced today that the European Commission (EC) has approved a new twice daily (BID) dosing of INCIVOŽ (telaprevir), a direct acting antiviral (DAA) protease inhibitor, in combination with pegylated-interferon and ribavirin (PR) for naive and previous treatment experienced patients. The newly approved dosing regimen for INCIVOŽ is now 1,125 mg twice daily in combination with PR, which aligns a morning and evening dose to the already twice daily dosing schedule for ribavirin versus 750 mg every 8 hours in combination with PR.

Hi Kellie, that`s good.� I shouldn`t think it makes any difference to the sx but I`m sure it must make your daily routine a lot easier to manage.� I didn`t do treatment with incivo/incivek but the 20 gm of fat required must be difficult to get down 3 times a day, and you`re more likely to forget to take a dose.� No doubt that`s why the dosing protocol was changed, to increase the chances of compliance.
