It sounds like Pruitus a symptom of hcv.  It got worse for me a few months ago, I could not take it anymore with infections developing from intense itching . My GI  specialist gave me a prescription for Cholestyramine powder you mix w/water.  IT WORKS!!!

Hi Lawrence, welcome from me too!

Some good tips from Tim (hrsetrdr) there, and I would also suggest bathing or showering in cool water rather than hot, and wearing loose clothing whenever possible.  We have a `Search` box at the top of the page, so if you type in key words like `itch or `itching` you`ll see a list of other threads come up where this subject has been discussed before, along with remedies other people have found useful.

I see from another post that you`re waiting for treatment after having a transplant and I hope you manage to get your medical team to agree to treat you with triple therapy.  Best of luck!

Hi Lawrence,

Welcome to the forum. I don't know exactly what your itching is from, are you "on treatment" for hep C, or are itching from Hep C itself?

Anyway, there are several things you can do regardless of the cause:

A. Don't scratch! Yes, easier said-than-done, but scratching damages the skin, and makes itching 10X worse.
B. increase your water intake, preferably to 2~3+ quarts per day.
C. use a good skin moisturizing cream or lotion wherever it itches.
D. use an antihistamine such as Benadryl, or which ever your doctor recommends.
E. forget drinking alcohol, seriously. If you have hep C, alcohol is just not your friend.

Good luck, keep us posted on how you're doing.
