Hey all

This link is about the same electron study but a whole lot easy to read

http://hivandhepatitis.com/hcv-treatment/experimental-hcv-drugs/4387-100-of-hard-to-treat-patients-cured-with-sofosbuvirledipasvir-plus-ribavirin-or-gs-9669

One of the points that I have been seeing out of some of these studys is that the baseline reading on Rav's before treatment with these newer DAA's has no consequence on outcome.

Which could mean retreatment with similar protease inhibitor but newer/better will be possible.

Hey Bills

I felt the same way when I read this report.

It made my day and filled up my hope cup for the week.

Between this news about Gilead and Mercks new combo there will be a lot of new treatments than will not involve Interferon in the coming months and for you Bill its a very good chance that a phase III trial for cirrhotic patients that have failed other triply therapy will be available this coming next 12 months.  Especially because these results were based on a small study group

A great day for all HCV treatment waiters.

Matt

wow!!!! this is great news for nonresponders to triple. less sx, shorter duration of treatment and quicker svr.

there was an article in the nytimes this past weekend  discussing "compassionate plea " to drug companies . evidently one can write a personal plea/letter requesting a new drug that's not fda approved for their condition. reading the article was an eye opener. perhaps this can be an option for  those who aren't in clinical trials.

the article was in either the health or business section of  sunday november 3,2013.

Those appear to be great results for that trial. It's looking like Gilead is going to become the leader is the race for getting rid of this virus once and for all. And I like the idea of the GS-9669 not causing the anaemia that the ribavirin does. I am five weeks after treatment and yet still very tired and unmotivated.

They are achieving great results in the latest trials, aren't they??  I am very hopeful after Merck released my trial data.  Down with Hep C--the new meds are gonna kill you!!!

Hey All

Great news from Gilead's presentation at the AASLD about cirrhotic patient treatments.

Here is a small excerpt from the article

In the first comparison, 100% of people with cirrhosis treated with sofosbuvir/ledipasvir plus ribavirin achieved SVR12, compared to only 70% of those treated with sofosbuvir/ledipasvir alone. Presence of resistance-associated mutations at baseline did not appear to reduce treatment efficacy.

In the second comparison, 100% of patients with advanced fibrosis or cirrhosis achieved SVR12 when treated with sofosbuvir/ledipasvir plus either ribavirin or GS-9669. While response rates were the same in both arms, haemoglobin levels dropped significantly amongst people taking ribavirin but remained stable amongst GS-9669 recipients.
