Hello Jennifer

Welcome to the forum, you have found a good place with caring people that can help guide your treatment and all the questions and concerns that come with treatment.

I may have missed it but did you tell us what Geno type you were?

Hoping that all goes well with your insurance and your future treatment.

I most likely acquired HCV in the late 60's, early 70's, from ex husband (deceased). First clue was in the early 70's when I tried to give blood, then later in 80's was told I had liver disease of unknown origin. In the late 90's I was experiencing early neurological difficulties, blood tests came back with ALT 1067, AST 434. This led to HepC dx and Interferon/Riba tx beginning Jan 2000. Within 10 days of start of tx, neurological symptoms required termination of treatment. I was unable to walk unassisted, or talk with any articulation, i.e. you couldn't understand a word I said ;-(  Very scary, to say the least.  Dx was Primary Lateral Sclerosis, a rare variant of ALS.  I regained my strength slowly, but still have neurological issues. My current liver specialist (not the guy that prescribed the Interferon) has been waiting for a safe treatment for me. 2011 Fibroscore gave me a good result,38, but an actual earlier biopsy contradicted that.

Biopsy 2000 Mild portal inflammation with mild portal fibrosis, Grade 0, Stage 1

Biopsy 2007 Stage 2 Fibrosis

2011 Fibroscore 38, but 2007 biopsy contradicts

2011 HCV RNA 5,030,000 Genotype 2

So, we've been waiting for Sufosbuvir, and now it has finally arrived, yeah team!  Doc is putting in for medicare/Aetna approval, but I doubt they'll deny.  I need this treatment.  In addition to the PLS, I'm pre-diabetic, with no other risk factors.  Hope that will also resolve. I'm really putting all my eggs in the Sufosbuvir basket.
