Welcome Ro:

If insurance companies were human I'd call them dicks.  They will have to approve you; it is just a question of time.  As I'm sure you know the treatments are only getting better.  Stay strong and spend some time here.  Lots of good people and good information.

Hi Ro,

Welcome from me as well. As a fellow cirrhotic, I can relate to your previous treatment failures. It's worth persisting, so good luck getting a good Hepatologist and some new drugs.

Ask any questions- we're here to help. Cheers.

Aww welcome, it makes me furious that people that really need these treatments are being refused. Sorry to hear about treatment failure, I hope soon you get the approval you need and can regain your liver and freedom back. Wishing you lots of luck!

Hey Ro

Welcome to the forum from me as well. you have found a good place to gain insight and make friends among people that understand your plight.

With all the new Meds coming out in within the year many here will be singing a happy song  we hope you will be singing as well. If you don't get approved by your insurance the Gilead combo will most likely be approved and available in Oct 2014.

Ro,

Welcome from a fellow insomniac. Awesome lifestyle, ain't it? ;)  With your cirrhosis and failed treatment history it seems you'd be up towards the top of any treatment guideline list. I hope you have a good physician in your corner who will strongly press the issue. Many insurance co's are gravitating towards 'treat for medical necessity only'. It's an argument they will continue to use until prices drop more to their liking. I'd be interested in knowing who your carrier is and just what guidelines they are following, if any.

Again, welcome to the forum and do keep us posted. Nice to have you aboard!

Hi Ro, welcome from me and thanks for introducing yourself and sharing your story.

You`ve really been through some rough treatments and I`m sorry your previous attempts didn`t work out well.  I really hope you can get approval for the Sovaldi/Olysio combo, it would be so much better for you and we`re seeing some amazing initial results from our members who are doing this treatment.

Unfortunately because this is an `off label` treatment quite a few people are having problems with their insurance cover although you may well be successful on appeal, especially with your past history and the necessity for you to retreat.  There are other avenues for help with the costs too which you could explore, and we have a list of patient assistance programs in our `Knowledge Base`.  I`ll give you the link for that...

I`m sure other members will be along to greet you in due course.

Wishing you all the best of luck!  smile

Hi, introducing myself, I am a retired nurse  who is geno 1A and has failed treatment twice:(  I was diagnosed late '70s with non A nonB.  Definitive diagnosis of C was made early 90s. 10 years ago, my first treatment was interferon with RIBA, then switched from interferon to Infergen. I developed severe anemia and was transfused.   A few years later triple therapy with incevik.  My fatty liver has developed chirrosis and I am an insomniac driven crazy by itching..I hope to soon be approved for olysis and solvaldi treatment.. Insurance turned down initial request, now appealing.

I am so happy to see so many success stories on this new treatment and am praying I get approved and it will work for me!
