ladym,

when i was on tx , whenever i had trouble eating due to mouth sores, thrush, or nausea i made smoothies. at the beginning of my tx i started w/ atkins shakes & found them to be pricey & full of too many saturated fats. i always used high protien plain or greek yougurt & added in my fruits & veggies.

pleased to hear your dr. prescribed an appetite enhancer pill. hopefully it'll kick in quickly.

Hi ladym, So sorry to hear that you are having problems with eating. I had the same problem and found that bananas were very good to eat and make great smoothies. Take care.

Hi again, LadyM, I`m glad we were able to help and it`s good to hear you managed to eat some Farina cereal last night, that`s great.  Mirtazapine is often prescribed as an appetite stimulant and should help you get back into a better eating pattern.

Keep trying to eat, even if it`s just small amounts at a time, you need to keep your strength up!

Hello everyone, just wanted to thank you all for the support yesterday. I definately felt it leave my computer screen and land right in my heart and due to that I was able to eat some Farina last night. Not doing too good today though, but dr. gave me some mirtazapine which she claims should help me to eat.

Hi Ladym

Your hungry but when you look at the food its like uhhh. Try to eat any way and that uhh feeling might go away try to "break" through that wall. After 43 weeks of treatment some times I'm hungry but don't feel like eating. I eat any way...then I eat my food and watch to see what my Mom leaves so I can eat that too. lol. Just have to break through that wall. As long as food doesn't make you sick. Until you learn to do that I agree with Taz drink boost. 11 days into treatment you just haven't learned how to fight yet. You will. :)

Hi again, Ladym, lots of good advise there from Taz, and remember that milk is a food and very nutritious.  When I couldn`t face solid food I used to eat yoghurt which I found went down very easily, also soup.  Do whatever you can to eat something, you need food!

Try some ensure or bost. i love the milk chocolate ensure. it helps to put nutrients back in body. i am a liquid person too. rather drink it than eat it. i have started back juicing again with kale grapes carrots broccoli green apples.. take longer to get stuff together than to stick in chute of juicer.. mainoly why i don't juice like i should.  just lazy!!  Hang in there

First I would like to say "THIS SITE IS AMAZING" so many wonderful people ready to help. GOD IS DEFINATYELY GOOD.  My problem is so weird. I get hungry, very hungry, but the minute the food is in front of me it's just like ugh. My doctor finally returned my call and said my case is unusual. This is my second time on the treatment last time it was a year long and I made it til 6 monts, but in that 6 months I went from a size 14 to a 3. Same problem I seem to be able to drink things, coffee, soda, etc, just can't intakae food no matter how hungry I get and I know it's affecting me because last night I was so week I fell into my wall knocking down pics and everything.  I have purchased fruit, applesause, anything I could think of eating and so far no luck. MY last meal consisted of 1/2 slice of bacon for breakfast, a half a cucumber for lunch and a half a can of soup for dinner, that was 5 days ago.

Hi Ladym, you`re with friends here, welcome.

I saw what you wrote in the side chatbox and I`m so sorry you`re suffering like this.  Why can`t you eat, can you tell us a bit more about what is happening?  Is it because you`re feeling nauseous or not able to hold down any food?  I see you`re on treatment with Sovaldi, peg interferon and ribavirin, and the ribavirin can cause nausea and loss of appetite.  You said you feel really hungry, so could you tell us whether it`s the nausea that`s the problem?  If so your doctor will be able to prescribe a medication to help with that.  Are you able to hold down liquids?

It sounds like you definitely need urgent medical advice, you can`t continue not having any food.  Have you heard back from your doctor yet?

Has anyone had any trouble eating of this treatment? I have only been on the treatmet for 11 days, but I have not been able to eat anything in 5 days, please help.

Hi guys,

Ladym is new to the group and having a hard time all the advice would be welcomed....

"Has anyone had any trouble eating while on the treatment? I haven't been able to eat for 5 days now."

"txs loopy lisa, I tried to call her this morning, but she has not returned my call yet. This is my second time on the treatment. First time was in 2000 and because of the not eating, I had to quit. I just don't understand I am so hungy that I feel like I starving to death and don't know what to do except cry. I am so hungry. My genotype is 1B I am taking savaldi 400mg,pegassys 180ml, and ribavirin 1000mg a day."
