 Welcome Gouher Shah:

I'm sorry to hear you didn't get into the clinical trial and are feeling low.   There are so many emotional ups and downs with treating, or trying to treat hepc, and you are so young to be experiencing all this.  Stay strong, though, and keep the hope.  The future always brings good things to balance out the hard times and often when we least expect it.

Hey Kurt

Welcome from me as well, you have found a good place with a wealth of insight from the members.

Good to hear that you reached UND on week four, though its not guaranteed to achieve SVR the sooner your UND the better and of course staying 100% compliant afterward is the most important aspect of the treatment.

Kurt,

Thanks for the update. If you're interested, set up your information in your signature line (see mine at the bottom). It helps people understand your current diagnosis and point in the treatment process. It's very helpful when replying.

I commend you on your exercise regimen. It's so important to stay active while on treatment. I couldn't do much outside of occasional walks and a trip up and down the stairway when I could. Those of us on the Interferon/Riba/Protease Inhibitor protocols suffered so badly from anemia, there was barely enough strength to move from bed to chair to bed on some days! I'm so happy that you and those on your regimen are having less trouble with these ugly side effects. I do at the same time realize many of you are still having problems and it's so important that you share those issues of your treatment and how you're dealing with them. I wish you the very best!

My genotype is 1a. Side effects have been a little nausea which is gone, muscle aches, headaches and problems sleeping more than two hours at a time. Nothing has been too bad though. I've also started a regimen of weight training combined with treadmill and elliptical which helps my state of mind.

HI Kurt and welcome.

I too am hoping to be on the same treatment you are on in an upcoming clinical trial.  Excited to hear how it goes for you.  Please keep posting.  By the way, it would be great if you could post in your signature or somewhere your genotype and stuff like that.

Best of luck to you!!!

Hi Kurt,

I'd like to welcome you to the forum too. Congrats on your early undetectable results! You've started one of the best combo's available. Your chances for success are quite high and the side effects have been low for most here on the forum. What is your genotype? Any information you can share helps us provide better informed opinions should you have any questions. Feel free to ask any questions you might have and be sure to utilize our search function at the top center of each page. Good luck!

Hi Kurt:

I have a soft spot for the men and women who become firefighters because your work requires so much courage and helps so many.  Best of luck on your treatment.  There are a number of members on the same combo who all seem to be doing well.  smile

Hi Kurt,

Welcome to the forum! I'm fairly new to this site also but have found a lot of great information on here. There are some brilliant minds that have helped me get educated.

Feel free to place your history and lab results of Hep C in the "Signature" section of your profile if you feel like sharing. Good luck on your treatment and thanks for your years of public service!

Hi all,  I'm Kurt and I'm a retired firefighter/paramedic who has been living Hep C for 20 years.

I'm starting my 4th week of treatment on Sovaldi/Olysio and so far it looks good. Viral load has gone from 3,000,000 to undetectable and my ALT went from 349 to 16.
