Milliganus, yes Im with you, even if it turned out that I was chronic and late on detection, I wouldn't have a problem of letting go, but I have to be here for others(wife and baby on the way) so it was too soon.  I know this virus isn't as "bad" as HIV, but I felt as if It was, and for a moment I could "almost" put myself in the shoes of somebody like that.  Even still if it was the worst outcome, I could fine happiness knowing at least I had or was having a baby.

I am such a pessimist so the almost 3 weeks to find out was killing me if it wasn't for the help of "Him", especially after he already has saved me in my past at least 5 different occasions/scenarios .

Thanks Tig for clearing up my loos end questions.  I will of course not be put in this situation again of my own doing ever again and will be a living example to tell stories to people who are careless with their lifestyles.

Michael.

Hi John,

That's great news! It isn't something we hear too often here on the forum, so you've really made our day! You can trust your doctor, you've cured the virus on your own. How cool is that! You will always be positive for the antibodies, but you don't have to worry about  re infection from that. That doesn't mean you're immune to it though. If we expose ourself to it, we can all get "it" again. That's the last thing on my list of things to do! So rejoice and enjoy the knowledge that you beat the dragon on your own, with the help of your faith and Him of course! Good luck...

Thanks great news for your John!!!   I too have received strength to go on when I didn't think I could from my Savior.  I am so grateful for that, and even if this thing takes my life, that's ok too cuz I know what waits for me on the other side.  I'd love to see my grandkids grow up thoughsmile

You can't change the past, you can't know the future, so be grateful and rejoice in today!!

ok turns out negative after waiting 2.5 weeks, no virual load count, could not be genotyped (correct Tig I am one of what I have head 10-30% percent that can cure it)

I asked if it could come back in the future she said no. you cured it

Not sure how true that statement is but ill take the first statement and then thank God.

To all of you that are suffering, I feel your pain. The one thing that helped me through this was out of the blue I found a Christian radio station and haven't turned the dial, and never will thank you klove.com and Jesus. To people of other beliefs, either religious or scientific I hope you could find solace like myself. Octoberish shouldn't Sofosbuvir/Ledipasvir combo be coming out? Vaccines I already found in Stage II trials on google which weird names like AE775G etc.. Donate to you interest of your choice, disease research or mine was feeding hungry children monthly for a decade now

Thank you to this board as well.

Hi John,

If you prove to be only Hep C antibody positive and undetectable following a RNA viral load test, then you likely were exposed to Hep C and were one of the fortunate one's that was able to fight off the infection naturally. Some reports claim 20-30% of people exposed are able to do that. I hope you're one of them. People that are simply antibody positive aren't going to give Hep C to anyone. Even those with active HCV infections, the risk of passing the virus on to your partner is low and  though HCV mothers have passed on the virus to their unborn children, the risk of that is very low. But the wisest course is to always test for the virus, whether it's Hepatitis A,B or C or HIV. There are simple tests that can be done in a day and more sensitive tests that can be done in less than a week. I feel testing for all of these diseases should be part of everyone's healthcare plan. It's easy to do and knowledge is power, especially when it comes to your health.

thanks tig (its odd how this forum is new is at the top) anyway...

I have stopped all use of anything except for my thyroid now.  (although considering mar_i jua na to increase my hunger or use it if have symptoms during treatment).( i know im jumping way ahead of myself)

I hate to be a bugger, but I will take what you say and call them everyday around noon just incase they forget.  Im going with my wife to see the sex of my baby (5 months) on Thursday, be nice to have the results before.  On that topic, my gastraloagust said they might not have tested for HVC on my wife and my internal medicine doc says they had to and could sue if they did not at this point(they were aware of my past and have taken blood from her many times during her "at risk" pregnancy.  So i would like to cross that one off the list as well.  I have never harmed anyone in my life, i wont step on an ant, but i will/have harmed myself only.  Giving this to her or my baby would destroy me(even at the low chances of passing it to her as a non user and passing it on to a child, and so called ways of stopping it to pass to a child).

Thanks for the info and I will be on top of them, as well as getting the physical results so I can read them myself.  They said my liver is fine, that's not enough for me.

I also killed the flu a month ago, so if that's positive news.

All i know is i have the antibody so far, if im infected or not is to come.  But if it comes back that i cleared it (in Gods name) am I not still contagious? or could be in the future? (out of all the reading, that I would assume yes)

Hi John,

Welcome to the forum! I know how the nerves and anxiety can get to you during the waiting process. Unfortunately it's all part of it. Have you called your doctor or the lab and requested the results? I often had to do that even though they told me they would contact me as soon as they came in. They get busy and forget to do what they promised you they'd do. Always get and keep copies of your blood tests, you never know when you might need them. The good news is, as you've already mentioned, the new drugs are really effective and the time to treat has never been better (and getting better!)

I'm glad you've stopped the IVDU. That's a sure way to see these issues come back and bite you again, but you know that. Keep up the good work and if we can answer any questions once you get your results back, just let us know! Good luck...

Tig

9 "business days" doc told me "day or two" before results

I have hep c antibody, and a slow thyroid which the doc said is below hypothyroidism levels but gave me meds for it anyway.

I have lost weight, very, very, slowly.  But haven't lost any in a long time either(I might have gained 10 lbs) since I stopped abusing intravenous drugs in 2010.

Now its like waiting for tonight's lotto,

your viral load is.......

your gene type is........

I am grateful for the timing, as there is magical pills now with great results. Also future drugs that even do better then what is already called a "cure"

the weight loss, appetite loss,  and digestional problems(which was the key one) that finally got myself to go see a doctor.

I cannot believe this is not tested for more, even HIV... i mean come on doc, clinic, etc,  promote testing!
