Also, was reading stock info on Gilead yesterday. Was surprised to read Gilead's HCV drugs (I think even the S/L combo) are not their bread n butter, but their HIV drugs and the continued updates are.

According to this CDC statistics overview, at the end of 2010 almost a million persons diagnosed with HIV were living in the USA, and that number has surely increased since then.

One of my HIV meds is Gilead's Viread (tenofivir) which my insurance pays $845.14 for 30 tabs monthly. So what you read may indeed be accurate, or not far off. I'd say Viread is good for several loafs of bread and a stick or two of butter at the least. smile

I've asked a similar question in the past Isis. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I remember TV ads from the late 60's, early 70's from the American Cancer Society saying if people donated, they could cure cancer in 20 years. Well, everyone's been donating for double that time now. Still no "cure".

Also, was reading stock info on Gilead yesterday. Was surprised to read Gilead's HCV drugs (I think even the S/L combo) are not their bread n butter, but their HIV drugs and the continued updates are.

Pushed the like button, Huey.

You never know.  HCV pricing could be the catalyst for some positive changes.

What are we going to do when a cure for cancer comes but it costs a million dollars per tx?
